Amongst them, P. conica, P. jilinensis, P. mycenoides and P. subsingeri are described as new species, based on studying morpho- logical characteristics and phylogenetic analyses. Detailed morphological descriptions, line drawings and photographs of the new species are presented. Phylogenetic analysis of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and an identification key to the 27 Psathyrella species oc- curing in Northeast China are provided. In this study, we quantified patterns of sexual dimorphism in two hynobiid salamanders (Hynobius leechii and Salamandrella keyserlingii) from Chinese populations. Sexual size dimorphism did not occur in either species, despite differences in body shape traits. Likely related to fecundity selection, females have relatively longer trunks in both species. Female S. keyserlingii have larger heads likely due to reproductive investment and ecological selection, whereas larger forelimb and hindlimb width in male H. leechii may be related to reproductive behaviour. “Impacts and Countermeasures of Global Climate Changes on Alpine Areas” Report on Evaluation of Changbai Mountain Reserve I. Present Status of Nature Resources in Changbai Mountain Changbai Mountain Reserve is located in the easternmost of north temperate Eurasia and the southeast of Jilin Province. Neighboring Korea, it is the core area of Changbai Mountain. In the reserve, ecosystem is distributed vertically. Regarded as the most representative typical natural complex in the similar latitudes of the northern part in Eurasia, Changbai Mountain Reserve is also known as the rare “species gene bank” and “natural open museum”. Served as a natural laboratory for the research and study of forest ecology, it is a natural classroom for the propaganda and education of environmental protection. The conservation significance and value of ecosystem have a great impact on the world. Established in 1960, Changbai Mountain Reserve is one of the earliest natural reserves in China. In 1980, it joined “Man and Biosphere” (MAB) Program of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to be one of the biosphere reserves in the world. It was approved to be a national natural reserve by the State Council in 1986 and was listed as World Class-A Natural Reserve by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 1992. In 2000, it was awarded as Grade-AAAA Tourist Resort by National Tourism Administration. In 2003, it was named as “Top Ten Famous Mountains in China”. Recently launched Sentinel imagery offers a new opportunity for forest AGB mapping and monitoring. In this study, texture characteristics and backscatter coefficients of Sentinel-1, in addition to multispectral bands, vegetation indices, and biophysical variables of Sentinal-2, based on 56 measured AGB samples in the center of the Changbai Mountains, China, were used to develop biomass prediction models through geographically weighted regression (GWR) and machine learning (ML) algorithms, such as the artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine for regression (SVR), and random forest (RF). The results showed that texture characteristics and vegetation biophysical variables were the most important predictors. SVR was the best method for predicting and mapping the patterns of AGB in the study site with limited samples, whose mean error, mean absolute error, root mean square error, and correlation coefficient were 4 × 10−3, 0.07, 0.08 Mg·ha−1, and 1, respectively. -
