Site Alternatives for Proposed TSDF Site Site Selection for Common Hazardous Waste Management Facility has been referred for the most suitable site for the proposed integrated TSDF facility. Proposed project site has been selected after thorough examination of three alternate sites by considering CPCB site selection criteria.

1.1 Knockout Criteria

Knockout criteria of CPCB total 3 sites were analyzed for proposed Integrated TSDF Site, assessment is as under:

1.3 Siting Criteria- TSDF

As per CPCB & MoEF guidelines for “Criteria for hazardous Water Landfills, February 2001” (Annexure 1); Hazardous waste landfill site shall not be located within a curtained distance of the lakes, ponds, rivers, wetlands, flood plains, highways, habitation, critical habitat area, water supply wells, airports, coastal zone etc. if it is absolutely essential to site a landfill within the restricted zone, then appropriate design measures are to be taken and prior permission from the SPCB/PCC should be obtained. Based on above criteria, selected site is analyzed and details are as under:

Area affected by Sabarmati river is villages/town of Khambaht & Tarapur Taluka; while 10 km radius of project site covers villages of Khambaht & Borsad Taluka. Villages of Khambhat Taluka which are affected are Golana and Pandad but they are not falling in 10 km radius of study area.
