    Croatian Marinas GRATIS Croatia’s Adriatic coast, from the westernmost point of the Istrian peninsula to the southernmost reaches of Dalmatia, is one of the most evocative natural destinations for those who love the sea and who wish to experience the primeval touch of a natural environment with a thousand faces. A thousand islands, islets and reefs, secluded coves and bays, and green pine forests seem as if they are moving down to greet that miraculous marine world - down to the sea, an immutable secret waiting to be discovered, all the while keeping a weather eye out for its sometimes unpredictable whims. The winds on the Adriatic should never be treated lightly, particularly thebora in the Kvarner Bay and the Velebit Channel. Other winds can be somewhat less awesome, although their strength varies along the northern and southern coast.

Original Scientific Paper UDK 784:398(497.5 Murter) Received: 17.2.1995 DALMATIAN POP SONGS IN THE FOLKLORE PRACTICE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE ISLAND OF MURTER VEDRANA MILIN-URIN Fakultet prirodoslovno-matematikih znanosti i odgojnih podruja, Split This paper is part of broader research which I conducted with the objective of analysing the theme Spontaneous Singing on the Island of Murter - Continuity and Changes.1 During the period between 1975 and 1989, I observed and took part in various occasions of performance of music, so as to get to know the musical world of the island of Murter2 through varied repertoire. The research was directed to situations of spontaneous music practice i.e. direct musical communication within small groups of people, and commenced from the assumption that such situations provide the fullest opportunities for perceiving the dynamic musical world of the people, their interests, musical experiences and needs. The repertoire performed at the free choice of the singers demonstrates both their relation towards the musical tradition of their own environment, and towards music adopted from other folklore regions and also from the field of popular music. During research I recorded a total of 846 musical examples, 504 of them being of different songs. Four basic groups can be differentiated, as regards musical style characteristics, in the musical repertoire: 1. traditional local songs; 2. songs from other folklore regions; 3. Dalmatian klapa songs; and, 4. Dalmatian pop songs. J. F. Kennedya 7, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia [email protected] Abstract Main aim of regional policy is to reduce regional disparities. There is now doubt that action to tackle regional disparities is needed in Croatia. Main problem is the definition of region as a subject of regional policy. After discussion about definition of region and main criteria which should be considered during the process of establishment of regions, the paper will present one of the methodologies for spatial-economic entities' classification. The methodology will be used on the working sample of several Croatian counties. The classification will be obtained through use of multivariate statistical methods, and it is based on a wide number of demographic, economic, educations, employment indicators. Results leads to the identification of several axes of socio- economic characterisation, and the division of the observed territory into several homogenous clusters, regions with different degree of development. The main conclusion is that socio-economic reorients uncovered with this methodology provide useful characterisation and division of the territory, for policy making purpose. Division proposals depend on criteria used. Politicians and various professions use different criteria, in order to achieve the optimal territorial structure that could enable same or at least similar effects of certain policy measures within the same territorial unit, and could be easily monitored.
