DAY 1: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 • DEPART USA Depart USA for Milan, Italy via overnight flights on scheduled airline. DAY 2: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 • ARRIVAL IN ITALY | MILAN Upon arrival at the Milan airport, meet your Italian tour director. Board a deluxe motor coach to check in to your hotel, with time to freshen up. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Welcome dinner and overnight in Milan. DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 • FEAST DAY OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO Today visit the city center of Milan, including the Duomo, where Mass will be celebrated for the Feast Day of St. Charles Borromeo. Visit the crypt to venerate the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo and see the actual baptismal place where St. Ambrose baptized the great St. Augustine of Hippo. Visit also the Basilica of St. Ambrose with the relics of the patron saint of Milan. The remainder of the day is free to explore the famous Galleria and see the “La Scala Opera House.” Overnight in Milan. DAY 4: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5 • SACRO MONTE DI VARALLO This morning, depart for Sacro Monte di Varallo, one of the oldest religious structures in Italy. Perched on a steep hillside above the valley, the intricate architecture and setting is surreal, with fantastic views. Celebrate Mass. Return to Milan for time at leisure. Possibility of seeing Leonardo da Vinci's of the Last Supper (pending confirmation). Overnight in Milan.. DAY 5: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6 | FLORENCE This morning, depart for Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. Upon arrival, celebrate Mass in Santa Maria Novella. Briefly visit the Academia Gallery to visit Michelangelo's magnificent David. After lunch, take a guided walking tour stopping at the following places: Duomo (Cathedral of St. Mary of the Flowers), Baptistry and Signoria Square. Dinner and overnight in Florence. DAY 6: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7 • ASSISI Depart for Assisi, the City of Peace and celebrate Mass this morning at the Basilica of St. Clare to see the cross that spoke to St. Francis and led him to a life of piety. After lunch on your own, continue with a walking tour of Assisi and see the Basilica of St. Francis, with an opportunity to venerate his tomb. The remainder of the evening is yours to explore this quaint Umbrian town. Dinner on your own and overnight in Assisi. DAY 7: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8 • ORVIETO | ROME Today depart for “The Eternal City”, Rome, with a stop first at the medieval hilltop town of Orvieto, home to a Eucharistic Miracle which in 1263 established the feast of Corpus Christi. Ride the funicular up and visit the Duomo, which houses the altar cloth of the miracle, and celebrate Mass. Continue to the Eternal City of Rome and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Rome. DAY 8: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9 • ST. PETER’S BASILICA | VATICAN MUSEUM & SISTINE CHAPEL Celebrate an early morning Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by time for personal prayer and devotions. Afterwards, take a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where you will view some of the most inspiring works of art. The tour finishes with a guided visit of St Peter’s Basilica, the home of the Catholic Church, where more artistic masterpieces await. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome. DAY 9: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 • BASILICAS TOUR This morning celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Saints Ambrose and Charles on the Corso and see the relic of St. Charles Borromeo’s heart. Afterwards, embark on a Christian Rome Tour, including the Basilicas of St. Mary Major and St. John in Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome. The remainder of the evening is yours to explore on your own. Overnight in Rome. DAY 10: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 • PAPAL AUDIENCE | FREE TIME | FAREWELL DINNER Today attend the weekly general audience with the Holy Father in St. Peter's Square (subject to the Holy Father’s final schedule). The remainder of the day is yours with an optional walking tour with your tour director to see the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona.
