MADELEINE, 1876 ’s Cup built by the David Kirby Boat Yard on Milton Harbor. The David Kirby Boat Yard originated the Wee Scot One Design Class.

AMERICAN, Commodore Archibald Watt, 254’ steam , built in a Harlem yard in 1898. She had quadruple-expansion engines that drew steam from 5 boilers.

ATALANTA, Jay Gould, 248’ Steam Schooner, mostly raced on her (Brooklyn-Irvington) commute, and the early races held off of Larchmont Yacht Club before the Clubhouse on Milton Point. Named after a Greek huntress who chooses riches over victory. Painted white by George Gould. Decommissioned 1950 and sunk off the Antilles after 50 years of service to Venezuela.

MAGIC, A.W. Mott, 84’ schooner, First America’s Cup defender 1870, won the first AYC sail race 1889; Built in 1857, lengthened and rebuilt as a schooner in 1869.

VIKING, George Scott, AYC’s first Commodore’s yacht to was used as a fleet taxi & postman for the US Navy in the Cuban Blockade during the Spanish American War 1898.

MIMOSA, Commodore Trenor L. Park, Cutter, won the 1904 Manhassett Bay Challenge Cup.

MIMOSA III, Commodore Trenor L. Park, Cutter, won the 1905 Manhassett Bay Challenge Cup.

RASCAL II , Samuel C. Hopkins, 21’ Raceabout, 1905-6 AYC Raceabout, Club One Design Champion.

VIM, Commodore Trenor L. Park, 35’ Sonderclasse, won the 1906 Roosevelt Cup off Marblehead, 12-15 mile courses, Eastern Yacht Club vs Kaiserliche Yacht Club.

TAUTOG, George G. Fry, AYC Dory, won the 1908 International Dory Race, Neatherlands.

CLIPHORA, Clifford D. Mallory, AYC Raceabout, won the 1909 LIS Raceabout Championship.

CARA MIA, Stuyvesant Wainwright, NY30, built by Herreshoff, 1910 & 11 Manhassett Challenge Cups; 1905 Larchmont Race Week NY30 ; 1906 NY30 LIS Championship.

GUINEVERE, Commodore Edgar Palmer, 197’ schooner, served with the US Navy in World War I, with three topsail-rigged masts, sunk off the coast of France in 1918.

JOYETTE, Mrs. Commodore Edgar (Zilph) Palmer, 35’ Sonderclasse, won the 1909 Taft Cup; 1915 Sonderclasse Series.

CYNOSURE, Hobart Ford, Star Class, won several one design regattas, (means “center of attention”).

ZILPH, James E. Hayes Jr., NY40, 1915 Annual Cruising Boat Regatta; 1922 NY40 LYC Race Week.

LENA, Commodore Ogden Reid, NY30, built by Herreshoff, won several one design regattas 1913-1941 NY30 class rules: 5 crew, 2 paid and an amateur helmsman.

GUINEVERE II, Commodore Edgar Palmer, 197’ schooner, served with the US Navy in World War II The brass nameplate serves as the threshold for the Trustees Room.

BUTTERFLY, Stuyvesant Wainwright, 1920, 22, 23 &24 the Brooklyn Yacht Club Ocean Challenge Cups.

QUIVER, Commodore Philip R. Mallory, R Class, won the 1925 & 26 Larchmont Race Week, R Class; 1925 Manhasset Bay Regatta, R Class; 1925 Greenwich Cup; 1925 LIS Championship, R Class

BABETTE, Commodore John B. Shethar, 1927 LIS Interclub Championship; 1926 Larchmont Race Week.

VALENCA, Commodore John B. Shethar, NY32, won the 1936, 37 & 39 Navy Members Cup.

SKYLARK, William Gould, 68’, won 2 cruising class races on the 1933 50th Anniversary Cruise.

JANE DORE, Hobart Ford, 1936 Bermuda Race (The first for Jim M. Mertz, future Commodore 1955-56) Served as a coastal patrol boat during World War II.

MARITA III, Franklin M. Haines Sr., won the 1938 New London to Marblehead Race.

ARGYLL, 1950 Bermuda Trophy, Overall Winner ( Jim Mertz watch captain).

MUSTANG, Roderick Stephens Jr., NY32, 1948 Block Island Race; 1952 Thunderbird Trophy; 1952 Ray Graham Bigelow Memorial Trophy Bermuda Race Class B.
