Document Title Senior Partner Contact Information: Warren Kay [email protected] www.ampthillrufc.com For Immediate Release: (18/05/16) “Ampthill Confirm Pre-season Fixtures Against Jersey & Bridgend” Ampthill, Beds – Ampthill are delighted to provide confirmation of the 1stXV pre-season fixture in Jersey on Saturday August 13th, 2016, 15:00. This early announcement is designed to assist supporters in making their travel plans. The history between Jersey & Ampthill goes back to the short lived RFU National 3 Cup final held at the end of 2009-2010 season at Twickenham when the former ran out winners 21-12. Just three months later Amps travelled to Jersey for a pre-season fixture which saw the now National 2 hosts win 26-14. For the past two seasons A's 1881 (2ndXV) and Jersey Athletic have met home & away in the Zoo Sports Shield Division 1 where they have shared the spoils. Having finished 5th in the Championship in 2015-16, their best ever result, Jersey will no doubt strengthen their squad for the coming season and although the fixture will be partly a training exercise the visitors remain hugely honoured to receive the invitation. Ampthill's conections look forward to making new and renewing old acquaintances while surviving the renowned hospitality, a challenge in and of itself as many who have visited before can confirm. Saturday August 20th sees Ampthill welcome Bridgend Ravens to Dillingham Park for the second pre-season fixture. Ravens, formerly Bridgend RFC, play in the Principality Welsh Premiership and are a feeder club to the Ospreys regional side. Since promotion back to the Premiership in 2011 they have finished in the bottom third of the table but won the Swalec Cup in 2015 defeating Pontypridd 19-15 in the final. The Welsh Premiership was established in 1990 as the top tier in Welsh rugby, in 2003 the advent of Regional Rugby saw the Premiership's status change with all clubs becoming essentially feeder clubs to the (then) five regions operating on a semi- professional basis. Recent and current Wales internationals who have played for Bridgend include Scott Baldwin, Lee Byrne, Adam Jones, Ryan Jones, Matthew Morgan and Rhys Webb. All at Ampthill look forward to welcoming another leading Welsh team for what will no doubt be a very competitive run out. Ampthill RUFC, a Bedfordshire based community rugby club with more than 500 members regularly fields more than 16 teams each week during the season drawn from its senior, youth (U19), junior (U12-U17), mini (U6- U11) and female squads. We strive "to have fun broadening the life experience of our members & the local community, especially children, by developing their rugby skills through training, teamwork and competitive opportunity" ### Ampthill & District Community Rugby Union Football Club Dillingham Park, Woburn St, Ampthill, Bedford, MK45 2HX 01525 403303 Vat No. 196 7536 11 ampthillrufc.com Registered in England and Wales 00629333 .

RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2012/13 Round Nine: 23rd – 25th November 2012 ROUND NINE PREVIEWS With the completion of their postponed Round 4 game against Zebre, Ulster have now pulled out a six points lead at the top of the RaboDirect PRO12 table. They are in action in Italy again on Friday night when they face Benetton Treviso at Stadio Monigo, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten record in the country as well as maintaining their 100per cent start to this season’s RaboDirect PRO12. Current RaboDirect PRO12 champions, Ospreys, are also in action on Friday night travelling to Murrayfield to play Edinburgh Rugby. Ospreys sit just outside the top four due to poorer points difference than Munster, should results go their way this weekend it could be the first time they have entered the Play-Off zone this season. The match of the day must be the encounter at Scotstoun where third placed Glasgow Warriors must overcome the reigning European champions, Leinster if they are to set a new Warriors record in this tournament of seven successive wins. The final game on Friday night is in Wales when Newport Gwent Dragons host Connacht. Both teams have had a mixed start to their seasons, and a win would be a welcome boost to their campaigns. The round concludes with two games on Sunday, Munster v Scarlets and Zebre v Cardiff Blues. After having narrowly missed out to Ulster last weekend, Zebre are still looking for their first win in the completion, and will be hoping Blues poor form continues for one more week.

This case is concerned with the right of the claimant, the Pontypool Rugby Club, a club with a proud history, to continue to play in the Premier Division of Welsh rugby in the 2012/13 season. The defendant is the Welsh Rugby Union, which organises and controls the sport of rugby union in Wales. It is the view of the WRU that as a result of the re-organisation of the Premier Division to reduce the number of clubs playing in it and Pontypool’s position in order of playing meritocracy of the fourteen clubs formerly in the division, the club is now only eligible to play in the Championship, the next division down. The essence of Pontypool’s case is that clubs which are above it on a basis of playing merit have not met the requirements to hold an A licence as required for the Premiership by the WRU’s National League Rules 2011/2012, and so there is a place for Pontypool within the Premiership.
