Silica gel is used throughout industry to adsorb moisture and maintain low relative thereby preventing product contamination and degradation. Silica gel is capable of adsorbing up to 30% of its own weight of .

Indicating silica gel was impregnated with cobalt L chloride that gives the silica gel its activity saturation indicator changing from a blue color to pink when a 10-12% moisture loading (by weight) of the desiccant is exceeded.

Humidity Indicator Card (HIC) is a simple to use instrument useful to measure Relative Humidity (RH) percentage in every sealed environmen t such as a packaging. HIC give a visual feedback of the RH percentage in the environment as color change when exposed to a given percentage of Relative Humidity . HIC is calibrated in different types to measure RH percentage from 5% to 60%. Humidity Indicator Cards are reversible.

Application and Handling 1. Withdraw HIC in quantity factually needed, do not expose HIC in open air for longer than 1 minute. Silica Gel is available in porous, granular, and amorphous form, synthetically manufactured from the chemical reaction between sulfuric acid and sodium silicate. STORAGE, USE AND HANDLING Desiccant is highly hygroscopic and will activate i nstantly with free moisture. For this reason, desiccant bag is packed and shipped in airtight packaging materials. To ensure the best possible desiccant performance, follow these simple r ules:

1. Check desiccant packaging on delivery. In the event of damage to the outer packaging material the desiccants are most probably exposed to the atmosphere and therefore the product is contaminated. Do not accept the goods.

2.Open the protective plastic bag only when ready to use the desiccant. After use, if some desiccants are still left over in an opened bag, securely close the bag to ensure that no free moisture can be absorbed by the desiccants. Or put the unused desiccants in an air-tight container.

3.If, for some reason, the protective plastic bag has been left open for a period of time, weigh some of the desiccants to establish if their weight have increased. If there is a weight increase of more than 8% [with +10%/-5% tolerance], it is strongly recommended not to use the desiccant.

STORAGE AND HANDLING Due to the moisture adsorbent properties of desiccant, the containers (or protective plastic bag) must not be opened for any period longer than absol utely necessary for withdrawals. The container (or protective plastic bag) shall be tightly resealed immediately after any withdrawal. In order to avoid the formation of dust so do not open the desiccant bags.

Store in climate-controlled area, at 30°C 40%RH

USE AND HANDLING The usability of desiccant depends on the quantity of moisture adsorbed before actual use. This will depend on the; the moisture content as supplied, the container itself and the quality of its seal, how many times the container is opened and resealed adequately and the ambient conditions when opened and when in storage.

1. It is important that the bags are secured in a position that ensures that the effective surface area is not impaired.

2. Desiccant should be put in the right position when adopt the packing of desiccant air seal, ensure that the desiccant can affected all the seal ed room, if precious materials, increase the dosage of desiccant, it is benefit of prevent the l oss due to condensed water dew.

3. In order to ensure the longest possible duratio n of protection, the barrier film must be heat sealed immediately once the desiccant bags have been inserted.

NOTE The amount of desiccant/adsorbent required will dep end upon the chemical characteristics of the product as well as the volume contents and physical properties of the container. We recommend a stability study be performed to determine exact amounts required. For extreme situations and larger containers - use more desiccant s.
