In his request, the minister urged ruling family members to be a role model for all people in abiding by the unlicensed firearms and ammunition collection law which was passed by the parliament on Jan 28. This invitation comes within the framework of the ministry’s preparation to enforce the new law on everyone without exception and in full transparency, said the Interior Ministry’s Security Media Department in a press statement yesterday. It noted that the law provides a four-month ultimatum for people to hand in their unli- censed firearms and ammuni- tion and be exempted from punishment. On Jan 29, and a day after the parliament’s approval of the law, the interior minister underlined that the law aims to boost Kuwait’s security and to fight rising crime.
