MADISON, July 5, 2007 – Wisconsin’s Federal Nominating Commission, a bipartisan body charged with making recommendations Chair for vacancies in federal judgeships and U.S. attorney positions, is accepting applications for a vacancy on the District Court Dean Joseph D. Kearney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. The opening results from the pending retirement of United States District Judge Rudolph Randa. Commissioners Atty. Mary Burke The 11-member commission will provide the names of four to six Atty. William T. Curran applicants with a favorable recommendation to the state’s two U.S. Democratic Senators, Herb Kohl and , and Congressman Former Lt. Gov. Margaret Farrow F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr., the longest-serving Republican member of Atty. Stephen M. Glynn Congress from Wisconsin. The Senators will then forward their Atty. Georgia Herrera recommendations to the President, who, under the Constitution, will Atty. James Klauser make the appointment, subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. The Commission, which has been in existence in Wisconsin since 1979, Atty. Lisa Neubauer was most recently utilized in 2005. Atty. John P. Savage Atty. Thomas L. Shriner, Jr. Application materials will be available beginning July 5 and must be returned no later than noon on Tuesday, July 24. The Commission’s Atty.
