Dundee Area Bus Changes from Sunday 14th August 2016 Information Booklet Version 1 Correct with all known details as at Monday 18th June 2016 brought to you by www.dundeebuses.info Changes to bus services in your area Stagecoach are closing Dundee depot (but not the Bus Station). Fife/Perth & Kinross/Angus/Dundee City councils all tendering new local bus contracts, some of which will all serve Dundee. Commercial changes from Xplore Dundee and Stagecoach too. Dundee City schools will change the school day, with finishing times varying depending upon the service. The schools are on the move too! From Menzieshill and Harris decant into the brand new Harris Academy, which will encompass Menzieshill High School too. Stagecoach timetables are expected online at www.dundeebuses.info towards the end of July 2016, with printed timetables on buses about a week later. Xplore Dundee timetables should be available at www.dundeebuses.info w/c 18th July 2016, with the colourful timetable booklets printed and online nearer the time of the changes. Xplore Dundee Services 1A/1B (St Mary’s – City Centre) No changes are planned to these services. Xplore Dundee Service 4 (Camperdown Leisure Park – City Centre) Service withdrawn, but see Services 23/23A/23B and 27 for replacements as far as Dryburgh. For Camperdown Leisure Park, passengers are able to use Xplore Dundee Service 23 (or indeed, Stagecoach Strathtay Services 57/59) and alight at Camperdown Gate. A map showing these stops can be found below. Xplore Dundee Service 5 (Ninewells Hospital – Balgillo/Barnhill) Xplore Dundee Service 9/10 (Outer Circle) Service 5 is rerouted between Botanic Gardens and Ninewells Hospital to serve Glamis Road, Dickson Avenue, and Charleston Drive. Perth Road between Glamis Road and Ninewells Circle will be served by the 9/10, 204, plus Stagecoach 16 and X53, combining to provide five buses an hour to the City Centre and Ninewells Hospital. Tom McDonald Avenue will be served by the 9/10, plus Stagecoach 16 and X53, combining to provide four buses an hour to the City Centre and Ninewells Hospital. Monday – Friday peak time journeys from Barnhill to Ninewells Hospital will be revised to mostly leave 2 minutes earlier from Gardyne Campus, 2 minutes earlier from Whitehall Street, 2 minutes earlier from Step Row, thereafter times as now. Monday - Friday off peak journeys from Barnhill to Ninewells Hospital will be retimed to leaver Whitehall Street 2 minutes earlier, from Step Row 2 minutes earlier, thereafter times as now. Monday – Friday peak journeys from Ninewells Hospital to Barnhill are mostly unchanged, with a few slight changes to individual journeys. Monday – Friday off peak journeys from Ninewells Hospital to Barnhill will leave Step Row between 3 and 4 minutes earlier than now, thereafter times as now. Monday – Friday 08.40 from Ninewells Service 10 starts at High Street at 09.00. Some other timetable changes by a few minutes on other parts of the Outer Circle. Xplore Dundee Services 9S/10S (Ninewells Hospital or City Centre – St Paul’s Academy and/or St John’s High School) Buses will run in both directions as Service 9S. After school bus from St Johns to Ninewells and City Centre withdrawn, with one journey retained timed for St Paul’s Academy. Afternoon times vary, depending on the day of week, in line with new Dundee City school hours. Xplore Dundee Services 11S/12S (Ninewells Avenue/Perth Road – Lawton Road for Harris Academy decant site) Services withdrawn after the new rebuilt Harris Academy reopens to pupils. The new Harris will be served by the 5, 9/10, 16, X53, and dedicated school buses. Xplore Dundee Service 14 (Ninewells Hospital – Douglas) Timetable revised, and will now only operate between The Stack and Douglas, on a similar frequency to now. The intermediate running times on the remainder of the route are changed, to improve reliability. Some buses are now 2-3 minutes earlier or later than now (mornings) or up to 5-10 minutes earlier/later (Evenings). Eastbound, the first two arrivals into Douglas in the morning withdrawn. Westbound, there are extra buses at 08.41 and 17.44 from Douglas to The Stack, but the first afternoon bus from Douglas to The Stack is withdrawn. Service will serve the full length of Clepington Road, no longer running via Forfar Road and Kingsway East after Maryfield. NEW SERVICE Xplore Dundee Service 14S (Douglas – St Paul’s Academy) Former Strathtay service 501 now operated by Xplore Dundee as Service 14S. Morning service retimed to leave at 08.10, with the times revised for reliability. Service now starts from Balunie Avenue near Baldovie Road, instead of Arbroath Road/Monymusk Park. Afternoon changes in line with new school closing hours. Xplore Dundee Services 15/17 (Whitfield – Ninewells Hospital/Tech. Park) Monday – Friday, and Saturday, towards Ninewells Hospital, no major changes. Monday – Friday, and Saturday, from Ninewells, most buses will run two minutes earlier from Ninewells Hospital towards Whitfield. Stagecoach Strathtay Service 16/16A/16B (Dundee – Perth) Most of Service 16A is withdrawn, but a revised Service 16 will run hourly during the day, Dundee bus station via Perth Road, Ninewells, Invergowrie, Longforgan, Inchture, Errol, St Madoes, Perth City Centre and terminating at Perth Royal Infirmary. Service X53 will complement the 16 service providing a service twice per hour from Invergowrie to Dundee via the Technology Park, Ninewells Hospital and Perth Road. Evening and Sunday service timetable to be confirmed. The 16B to and from Menzieshill High School will no longer be required, but a separate school service will be provided by Perth & Kinross Council. Service revised to be operated by Stagecoach in Perth. Xplore Dundee Service 17S (Whitfield – St Paul’s Academy) Afternoon times vary, depending on the day of week, in line with new Dundee City school hours. Xplore Dundee Service 18 (Kirkton – City Centre) Monday – Friday – no changes to this service. Saturday – one extra journey at 05.40 from Courthouse Square to Asda Kirkton, is added to the timetable (this direction only). Sunday – major changes during the daytime, as the service will no longer work with Services 32/33 to Fintry, but will still do so during the evening. The first Sunday bus that leaves Kirkton then continuing as a 32/33 will be the 17.50 from Kirkton. As a result, Sunday daytime buses can be boarded at the usual 18 stops, at Courthouse Square and Albert Square, rather than King Street and Nethergate. The Sunday timetable will change, with buses at 11.00 and 11.15 from Kirkton 2 minutes later, 11.32 1 minute later, then from 11.47 buses will leave 1 minute earlier. These changes will hopefully enhance reliability during the day on Sundays. Xplore Dundee Services 22/22A/22B (Ninewells Hospital – Craigowl View) Running times on this service are now standardised on this route, to run at the same times Mon-Fri (using the basic Mon-Thurs current time). This increases the Friday afternoon service to that of the rest of the week i.e. every 7-8 minutes, or 8 buses an hour. Change was postponed from 13th September 2015. Extra Monday – Friday morning buses from City Centre (Whitehall Street) to Ninewells Hospital at 05.18, 06.08, 06.40, 06.58. These will supplement the main service from Craigowl View. Extra Monday – Friday morning buses from the City Centre (High Street) to Craigowl View at 06.10, 06.35, 07.00, 07.13, 07.45. These will supplement the main service from Ninewells Hospital. Changes of 1-2 minutes on many journeys, with afternoon peak buses from Craigowl View running 3-6 minutes later. Extra Monday – Friday afternoon buses at 18.05 from Craigowl View to City Centre. Extra Monday – Friday buses at 18.27, 18.42, and 00.03 from Ninewells Hospital to City Centre. The last of these runs Saturdays and Sundays too. Some other changes to Saturday daytimes too. NEW SERVICE Xplore Dundee Service 23/23A/23B (St Mary’s – Dryburgh – Lochee – Pentland Avenue – Perth Road – City Centre – Strathmartine Road – Woodside – Kirkton Asda) A new service to replace parts of Services 4, 24, 201 and 203. Service runs hourly off peak with peak buses as 23A direct from City to Lochee and Dryburgh. Service 23B will provide peak buses between Woodside and City Centre. Service 23 will start from Kirkton, Asda Superstore, via Gillburn Road, Old Glamis Road, Barnes Avenue, Woodside Loop, Graham Street, Clepington Road, Provost Road, Moncur Crescent, Five Ways Circle, Strathmartine Road, Hilltown, Dundee City Centre, Nethergate, Perth Road, Blackness Avenue, Balgay Road, Pentland Avenue, City Road, Lochee Town Centre, Foggyley/Clement Park (on journeys towards Kirkton), Dryburgh (Linton Road), Coupar Angus Road (stopping at Camperdown Gate for Camperdown Leisure Park), Timex Brae, Faraday Street, Baird Avenue, Telford Road, Staffa Place, Crematorium, Macalpine Road Shops, then a one-way loop via St Kilda Road, Dalmahoy Drive, and Birkdale Place. Service 23A will start from Dundee City Centre via West Marketgait, Lochee Road, Logie Street, Lochee Bank Street, Coupar Angus Road, to Dryburgh, Linton Road. Service 23B will start from Woodside Loop via the 23 route to Dundee City Centre. You can see a new route map towards the rear of this guide. Afternoon times vary, depending on the day of week, in line with new Dundee City school hours. NEW SERVICE Xplore Dundee Service 23S (Dryburgh – Lochee - South Road – Dickson Avenue – Perth Road – new Harris Academy: YELLOW BUS) New schooldays only service to provide links to the new Harris Academy, which now incorporates Menzieshill High School. Bus will start from Dryburgh, Linton Road, via Coupar Angus Road, via Lochee By- Pass, South Road, Arran Drive, Charleston Drive, Dickson Avenue, Glamis Road, Perth Road, to the new Harris Academy.
