DIMISSORIAL LETTERS (ENGLISH)

To [Fra. / Deacon] John Doe, a perpetually professed cleric of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, United States Province.

Greetings and Peace in Our Lord Jesus Christ!

I have received your request for admission to the order of the [diaconate/priesthood] together with the Declaration of Freedom [and Profession of Faith with the Oath of Fidelity*] made by you according to the norm of Canon 1036 of the Code of Canon Law.

In fulfillment of my duty to exercise diligent care that Holy Mother the Church be enriched with worthy sacred ministers, I testify:

a) that you are a professed member of our Province in perpetual vows; b) [that you have already been ordained to the diaconate;] [that you have received baptism, confirmation, and the ministries of lector and acolyte]* c) that you possess the qualities requisite for the office of the [diaconate/presbyterate]; d) that you are free of any irregularity or impediment; e) that you have fulfilled the requirements set out in Canons 1027-1029, 1031-1032, 1037 and 1039. f) that the investigation required by Canon 1051 has been conducted (Canons 1025, and 1052.2); g) that all else required by universal and proper law has been observed.

Therefore, with the consent of my Council (SCJ Constitutions, n. 96, c. 1019.1), I hereby grant these DIMISSORIAL LETTERS and permission to present yourself to the Bishop of [Place] on [date], for ordination to the [diaconate/priesthood] (c. 1021).

I ask that you send me, after the ceremony, an authentic Decree of the Order received, written by the ordaining Bishop, for preservation in the Provincial Archives (Canon 1053. 2).
