The Louisville Colonels are a Minor-League Basketball Team Playing in the American Basketball Association (ABA).
The Mission of the Louisville Colonels is to provide a high level of sports and entertainment for the City of Louisville and the surrounding communities. Also, focusing heavily on getting involved in all communities to become the marquee professional team for Louisville and all of Kentucky.
As a team playing in the American Basketball Association (ABA), we are dedicated to representing the ABA with class, integrity and sound business practices.

The ABA is a men’s professional basketball league. The league has grown to become the largest professional sports league in the world! In 1999 Joe Newman and Richard P. Tinkham founded the league. It was the re-launch of the original ABA. Tinkham co-founded both the original ABA and the Indiana Pacers. Joe Newman was the CEO of Joe Newman Advertising Inc. and Alliance Broadcasting Group Inc.
The ABA was established in 1967 before merging with the NBA in 1976. Some of the ABA notable players were: Julius Irving (Dr. J), George Gervin (The Iceman), Rick Barry, Moses Malone, along with many others that went on to play in the NBA. The ABA was re-formed in 2000 in partnership with the NBA and has been operating in harmony for the past 21 years. BECOME A PARTNER!
