CIT Sample Custom Tour 9: Tour Extension

Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu (D) Today you will arrive in Chengdu, where you will be greeted at the airport by a professional CIT tour guide, who will escort you to your hotel. After dinner, you will visit China Alley (literally "Wide and Narrow Alleys"), a popular area that will give you a taste of traditional Chengdu. Day 2: Chengdu (B/L/D) After breakfast today you will visit Wenshu Temple, a large Tang Dynasty with an impressive collection of relics, highlighted by a parietal bone of the famous monk , one of only three such bones on display in Chinese temples. Afterward, you will tour Qingyang Temple, the oldest and largest Taoist temple in Chengdu, and one of the most famous Taoist temples in China. After lunch you will proceed to Wuhou Memorial Temple, the largest temple in China built in honor of the renowned Three Kingdoms-era general Zhuge Liang. Afterward, you will visit the nearby Jinli Ancient Street, featuring shops, teahouses, and hotels in the architectural style of western . Enjoy the traditional handicrafts and snacks for sale here, explore the area's stylish shops, or relax in an upscale bar. The last stop on today's itinerary is Chunxi Road, a popular shopping area where you will have time to stroll around and get a taste of life in modern Chengdu. Day 2 Attractions: Wenshu Temple (文殊院, Wénshūyuàn) Qingyang Temple (青羊宫, Qīngyánggōng) Wuhou Memorial Temple (武侯祠, Wǔhóucí) Jinli Ancient Street (锦里, Jǐnlǐ) Chunxi Road (春熙路, Chūnxī Lù)

Day 3: Chengdu (B/L/D) After breakfast today, you will tour the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu, where the famous Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu resided when he lived in Chengdu. It features the most abundant and best-preserved collection of materials relevant to the life of this great poet. Today you will also have a chance to admire Chengdu's famous Shu brocade (蜀锦, shǔjǐn), a Chinese cultural treasure with a 2,000-year history. After lunch, you will visit the Jinsha Ruins Museum, which was built after the ruins of an important center of government, culture, and commerce that flourished more than 3,000 years ago were accidentally discovered on the site in 2001. Day 3 Attractions: Thatched Cottage of Du Fu (杜甫草堂, Dù Fǔ Cǎotáng) Jinsha Ruins Museum (金沙遗址博物馆, Jīnshā Yízhǐ Bówùguǎn)

Day 4: Chengdu – (B/L/D) After breakfast, you will travel by car to Chongqing, a trip of approximately two hours. After your arrival, you will join the tour group at the hotel.
