Franco Fagioli Countertenor

Franco Fagioli is the leading virtuoso countertenor of our times. He is much admired for the loveliness of his voice, which spans three octaves, as well as for his masterful technique, with which he raises performance standards to new heights.

Born in Argentina, the countertenor initially studied piano and then singing at the Superior Art Institute of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. His international career took off in 2003, when he won the Bertelsmann singing competition ‘Neue Stimmen’.

Franco Fagioli has since made regular appearances at houses in Buenos Aires, Karlsruhe, Bonn, Zurich, Essen and Genoa, at the in Vienna and the Théâtre des Champs- Elysées in Paris. He has also been invited to perform at a number of festivals, including those in Halle, Ludwigsburg, Innsbruck and Froville.

He has worked with conductors of the calibre of Rinaldo Alessandrini, Alan Curtis, Gabriel Garrido, , René Jacobs, José Manuel Quintana, , and .

Franco Fagioli is one of the five to appear in the opera, TV, CD and DVD production of ’s , which has been awarded just about every national and international music prize for which it is eligible.
