Insert PA authority logo Location and key features Nong Bong Kai Non-Hunting Area is a natural depression surrounded by low hills located in Yo Nok and Pa Sak, Chiang Saen District, , Thailand. Nong Bong Kai NHA.

Nong Luang / Wieng Nong Lom.

The area was originally an intermittent floodplain surrounded by low mountains and hills. Villagers constructed an earthen dam on the Lua River to store water for agricultural uses.

Extreme climatic events or climate changes affecting the PA Climate Baseline The climate is under the influence of the northeast and southwest monsoon with an average temperature of 25.5°C. The hottest month of the year is April with average temperature of 35.3°C and the lowest temperature range is in January with average temperature of 12.5°C. The rainy season is between July and October with highest average rainfall of 367.4 mm in July and average annual rainfall of 1900 mm (ONREPP 2004).

Climate change threats Climate modelling and analysis has identified the following climate change trends for the area of Chang Rai containing Nong Bong Kai - Non Hunting Area and Ecozone 12 of Chang Rai (ACCCRN 2011). - Increased temperatures all year round by 2 degrees - Decreasing precipitation in the dry season and increasing in the wet season - Drought occurs more often and longer duration, water availability decline More intense flooding is likely to occur Location and key features Bird Habitat Change?
