2016 Annual Report Keeping Families Close 2016 Annual Report www.rmhcofnc.org 1 “Giving is not just about making a donation of money or time. It’s aboutmaking a difference.” Friends, Every organization has a heartbeat, a pulse that unites its members under one mission and allows them to grow and thrive together as a whole. The pulse is the glue that binds the organization together, and the strength of the heartbeat defines the strength of the organization. Our heartbeat is the love, passion and dedication we all have for our charity of choice – the Ronald McDonald House. Our local chapter couldn’t make the impact we’re making in the communities of our seven local Houses, without that love, passion and dedication. For that, I must say thank you to our individual supporters, corporate donors and volunteers. It takes us all, working together, to not just make a donation of money or time, but to make a difference in the lives of so many. This year’s annual report showcases our ongoing commitment to children’s health and well-being across the state as well as celebrating a year full of milestones, achievements and continued growth whether it be the Charlotte House celebrating 5 years, or the Durham House celebrating 36 years. In addition, our seven Ronald McDonald Houses located in Greenville, Chapel Hill, Durham, Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Raleigh provided a home away from home to more than 5,000 families and provided more than 55,000 night stays in 2016. We are extremely proud of all that we continue to accomplish and look forward to bringing you good news and progress in the coming year. When I think about your support, I’m reminded of what may inspire you to give to a Novant Health foundation. Perhaps you donate because your father had cancer, and you understand the struggles that cancer patients face during their treatment. Maybe you received compassionate care at one of our facilities, and you want to express your gratitude. It could be that your toddler spent time at one of our neonatal intensive care units as a newborn, and you want to ensure the latest innovation is available to our most fragile patients. Your gifts demonstrate a real, lasting dedication to the health and well-being of our patients, their families and our communities. Donors across Novant Health support breast screenings, oncology initiatives, updated equipment and technology, improved access to behavioral health and other programs, as well as new buildings and facility upgrades. Several campaigns launched this year, including the Wallace Cancer Center in Rowan County, the Center for Health and Wellness in Thomasville and the expansion of behavioral health services at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. I invite you to read more about these and the many projects being supported by our foundation donors.
