The clay target range is new and consists of four trap and skeet fields superimposed with covers, and DTL ranges in between. This facility is alleged to have cost some 4 million pounds (A$12mil) and is as good as any in the world. The background is grass that drops away to a full bore range, so the targets hit the sky quickly and were great to pick up early. Scores were always going to be high providing the weather played it’s part. Between the 21st and the 24th a series of Badge Matches was shot in each disciplines as a warm up for the medal events. The opening ceremony was on the 25th and all the team, with the excep- tion of the coaches and the trap shooters made the long trip to Man- chester on a charter train, returning immediately after the opening and arriving back at Guildford at 04:30 in the morning.
