Living in Two Worlds Published by: Endymion Press 11 Bald Hill Road R.D.1 Kaukapakapa 0871 New Zealand Foreword This book is a personal account of my experience of the subtle dimensions of existence, the lower subtle and the higher subtle realms, as these are defined by contemporary cartographers of transpersonal states (e.g. Grof, 1988). A lot of my reports are about ways in which the subtle realms interact with ordinary life, so that one is effectively living in two sorts of world at once, the subtle ones and the physical one. In running workshops in this field, I have been struck by how many people need legit- imation for subtle experiences which they have had, but which cannot be categorized in terms of the belief-systems of our dominant culture. -

Member Handbook Welcome to the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program consists of a belt ranking system that begins at white belt and progresses to black belt. Each belt level consists of specific techniques in 7 major categories; takedowns, sweeps, guard passes, submissions, defenses, escapes, and combinations. Techniques begin with fundamentals and become more difficult as each level is reached. In addition, each belt level has a corresponding number of techniques for each category. The goal for each of us should be to become a Master, the epitome of the professional warrior. WARNING: Jiu-Jitsu, like any sport, involves a potential risk for serious injury. This judo student manual is designed so that the beginner and the advanced alike will gain a greater understanding of judo. Students begin judo for many different reasons. This manual should help paint a clear picture of what judo is all about. Judo is many different things to teach us. While the manual cannot teach you all you must know, it exemplifies the framework of judo training. Studying this manual must be in partnership with sincere training in the dojo. Without training there is no judo. This manual clearly explains the types of training a student undertakes and the reasons for them. Etiquette is explained; the dojo is a complicated place for a new student and this will make the beginner’s transition easier to achieve. Finally, it is our hope that judo students will find this manual a source of knowledge, inspiration, and encouragement that will allow him/her to walk the path with focus on the learning and not how long the path is. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE MANUAL? The purpose of this manual is to provide a helpful outline for every judo student. It shall provide information that will assist your judo instructor in your development. You shall find history, vocabulary, and other helpful subject matter addressed in this manual. Students come to judo for many different reasons and some know more about judo than others. Science of Wrestling Annual Research Review 2008 David Curby Preface This annual publication is dedicated to the pursuit and use of the knowledge surrounding the noble and timeless sport of wrestling. Each year, an annotated bibliography of the scientific research, published in English, during the year in review, will be compiled and shared with those who work in the wrestling community. It is my hope that this work will spark further research, along with helping to educate those who are in a position to apply this knowledge. I am proud to be affiliated with this great sport. Thanks to our national governing body - USA Wrestling. Thanks to the National Coaching Staff for the support that they have given to me. Rich Bender, Mitch Hull, Dave Bennett, Steve Fraser, Momir Petkovic, Ike Anderson, Terry Steiner, and Anatoly Petrosyan always respond to my questions.
