RESOSUMMIT 2010 WORKSHOP LIST (BY TEACHER) Mike Auldridge Decoding Mike Auldridge (co-taught by Mike Auldridge and Jimmy Heffernan) For the first time in the ResoSummit's "Decoding..." series, we'll have the subject present and participating. When Mike Auldridge began playing with The Seldom Scene in 1971, and particularly with the release of his first solo CD, Dobro, he single-handedly transformed the sound of the dobro for all time. We'll explore that sound in detail in this workshop: how Mike's signature sound evolved, from the early influence of Josh Graves through his history with the Seldom Scene and beyond; the nuts and bolts of what he played, and why, focusing on some classic Scene numbers (Muddy Waters; Wait a Minute) as well as examples from his solo work (It's Over; New Camptown Races); Mike's approach to intros and solos; and the philosophy, techniques and methodology of Mike's approach to the dobro. This class is not size-limited, and will have lots of demo and Q&A; it will not include hands-on playing by participants. Two sessions: one geared toward low- and high-intermediates, and one geared toward advanced + high-intermedidate. New Eight-String and Six-String Swing (co-taught with Cindy Cashdollar) Approaches to Swing Music, with Mike Auldridge on the 8-String Dobro and Cindy on 6-String. Hi-Int.+Adv.
