Included in this issue are the various leader listings our industry is accustomed to. One highlight for 2019 includes that fact that our membership numbers seem to have levelled off over the past 3 years so have our foal crop numbers. This is quite an achievement when the overall decline in crop numbers for 2019, as reported by the Jockey Club Fact Book (May 1, 2020), was 3.3% in North America and in 2019 Canada is showing a 1.3% increase. National The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society, National Office, would like to congratulate Tall Oaks Farm & Ivan Dalos in being chosen once again as the recipient of the Canada Breeder of the Year Award at the 35th Annual Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) National Awards Dinner. The TOBA National Awards Dinner is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Lexington, Kentucky to honour the 2019 achievements of Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders. Page 5 of 87 2020 Canadian Sales Dates In response to COVID-19, the CTHS Divisions are moving forward with the intention of conducting the Sales as scheduled, with some date changes, see below. If the unknowns at this time change because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will plan and adapt after consultations with our members and prepare to facilitate and focus on new arrangements. The sale is of imperative importance to the Canadian Thoroughbred Breeders and purchasers and our focus is to produce and provide a successful sale. We will continue to monitor and assess the Pandemic situation, as Health Officials and Government provide updated information, and will keep you advised and updated as circumstances develop.
