REGISTRATION & INFORMATION THE U.S. JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL GRASS COURTS CHAMPIONSHIPS June 7–12, 2010 HOSTED AND PRESENTED BY THE PHILADELPHIA CRICKET CLUB SPONSORED BY Events A draw of 32 Boys’ Singles, 16 Boys’ Doubles and Singles. A draw of 32 Girls’ Singles, 16 Girls’ Doubles and Singles. Eligibility The International Birth Date Rule applies for all entrants: Born between January 1, 1992 and December 31, 1997. Fees $50 USD entry fee per player (covers Singles and Doubles). All entry fees are payable in U.S. dollars. No entry form will be accepted without an entry fee. After the withdrawal date has passed, refunds will only be made upon written medical certificate submission. Qualifying There will be a Single’s qualifying event, (32 boys and 32 girls) on June 5 and 6, 2010. Sign-In deadline 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010. There will be a mandatory meeting at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Players must attend unless they have notified the tournament of a late arrival. 2. There will be no practice on grass on Friday, June 4th. Coaches may practice with players on grass practice courts, as available, from Sunday, June 6th through Saturday, June 12th. 3. All players and coaches shall dress and present themselves for play in a suitable manner anytime they are on the club courts.The Board of Governors of The Philadelphia Cricket Club requires white tennis outfits. Minimal colored trim is permissible. Unacceptable attire includes sweatshirts, gym shorts, dress shirts and T-shirts. Club policy also prohibits the wearing of blue jeans and hats in the clubhouse and dining facilities. 4. ITF regulations concerning manufacturers identification and logos will be strictly enforced. 5. Jogging shoes, tennis shoes with short rubber spikes (such as turf shoes made by Reebok or Nike), with steel spikes, or with cleats of any kind will not be allowed on the grass courts. The Board of Governors requests that conventional tennis shoes be worn to avoid damaging the courts. The Referee will be the sole judge of appropriate footwear, taking into account the weather and condition of the courts. 6. The ITF Junior World Ranking Code of Conduct (3 points) will be in effect throughout the tournament. 7. Singles will commence each day at 10 am followed by doubles. A 15 minute default will be strictly adhered to. 8. Contestants will be required to play two matches in the same event of the same day, if requested by the Referee. 9. All matches will be played at The Philadelphia Cricket Club on one of 22 grass courts; except in case of inclement weather, the playing surface for the tournament will be determined by the Referee. 10. Single consolation event play is optional for first round singles losers. 11. This is a Junior World Ranking Tournament, Grade 4 Level, with Grade 3 points awarded toward official World Ranking in both Singles and Doubles. No hospitality offered. 12. The Wilson Grass Court is the official ball of the tournament. 13. USTA IDENTIFICATION CARD MUST BE PRESENTED AT REGISTRATION BY DOMESTIC PLAYERS. INTERNA- TIONAL PLAYERS MUST SHOW PASSPORT. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE AN IPIN AS SPECIFIED BY THE ITF. Checking In All main draw players must register by 6 PM Sunday, June 6th; qualifying players must register by 6 PM Friday, June 4th. The registration desk will be open on Sunday, June 6th from noon – 6 PM. Prizes Winner and Runner-up prizes for the Singles and Doubles Events. Sportsmanship Trophies will also be awarded. Medical There will be a trainer on site at all times when play is in progress. Additionally, physicians will be on call. Expenses for treatment by a physician or hospital are the responsibility of the player and not of the tournament. A player’s lounge with a TV, games, books, and message board is available during the entire tournament. Meals A cash buffet lunch for all players, family members, and nominated national coaches will be available each day of the tourna- ment. Please observe the Club dress code (no blue jeans) in the Club house and dining areas. Eating facilities are on site and several restaurants are close to both The Philadelphia Cricket Club and the official tournament hotels. Take a right on Germantown Pike and proceed approximately 6 miles through the shopping area (Chestnut Hill) to Willow Grove Avenue. Take a right on Willow Grove Avenue and proceed to the Club on the right after the stop sign (St. Martins Lane). Center City Philadelphia to the Philadelphia Cricket Club Take Schuykill Expressway to Exit #340A (Lincoln/Kelly) Exit right off ramp. Bear left onto Lincoln Drive. At the 8th traffic light turn left on McCallum Street. After you cross a bridge take first right (Mermaid Lane). Turn left one block onto Cherokee Street. Proceed to first stop sign (Willow Grove Avenue) Turn right. The club will be on your left about 1⁄4 mile. From the West to the Philadelphia Cricket Club Exit the PA Turnpike at Norristown (Exit #333). Take 1st right ramp to Germantown Avenue. Take a right on Willow Grove Avenue and proceed to the Club on the right after the first stop sign (St. Martins Lane). From the North to the Philadelphia Cricket Club Exit the PA Turnpike at Ft. Washington (Exit #339). Take Rte. 309 South to the Paper Mill Road Exit (3.2 miles). Take a right at the bottom of the ramp to the second light (Cheltenham Avenue). Turn left on to Cheltenham Avenue. Follow Cheltenham Avenue to the first light (Willow Grove Avenue). Turn right.
