42 Convocation speech

I deem it a great pleasure & honor to address this first convocation of Rama University, Kanpur. I am thankful to the Management of the University to invite me on this occasion. I appreciate that the Rama University is not only imparting higher education by teaching & learning process, but through its extension programmes aimed at serving the marginalized section of society by organizing camps in rural & urban slum localities. Convocation is an opportunity to celebrate & honor the achievement of our students & also to reflect on what we have, what we aspire toward, & the path we are to follow as on institution of higher learning. Dear young graduates; this date marks as an important day in your life and significant mile-stone in your life’s journey. While entering in this university, you pursue your academic work with dedication and earn your degrees and awards. It is a moment for pride for you, as much as, for your teachers and parents. But this is only a beginning; that will not an end. It will not end until you feel with full confidence that you are able to meet all kind of challenges of life & dealing with successes and failures with positive attitude. It is my firm conviction that in the knowledge driven economy of today, only those nations found progress which have world class universities, institutes and collegges. It is mainly because world class universities produces graduates who are globally confident leaders, highly creative and imaginative to lead their respective field, e.g; law, medicine, technology etc. Government of India is serious of this quality issue and MHRD has started National Institutional Ranking Frame work (NIRF) since 2016. University Grant Commission has made it mandatory to accredit through NAAC. University is not only known for its teaching–learning and producing more and more graduates. It should be a hub of Research. Unfortunately we are still far behind developed countries e.g. USA, Australia, Britain, South Korea and China. The quality research-based institutions are necessary to make India an a economic power and to meet the needs of vast population of society. Future of India can certainly be better by adopting MAKE IN INDIA, Digital India, Startup Scheme which are possible only when our universities and institutions become world class and not remain mediocre. Environmental degradation is one of the serious issue which should be addressed to, with primacy because this is associated with human health. I congratulate all degree awardees and especially Ph.D degree & Gold Medal receivers. I bless you for your bright future in life. Thank you.
