Social Thought & Research Vol. 34, 2017 The Anthropocene

Managing Editor Brock Ternes University of Kansas Assistant Editor Lukas Szrot University of Kansas

Staff Emily Jones Kevin McCannon Cover Art: The photograph of the pristine waterfalls of Lake Kahola, Kansas captures the enormity of one of the most urgent questions facing humanity: In the face of rapid anthropogenic changes, can people collectively recalibrate their relationships with ecosystems to ensure a habitable planet? This scenic picture serves as a reminder of the inspiring power of nature and reveals what is at stake if civilizations fail to protect the environments in which they are embedded. In order to expand the reach of applied environmental sociology, the theme of this volume of STAR, the Anthropocene, has been selected.
