Women at the Home Front A Bushfire Preparedness Workshop for Women

Women are often the ones who take responsibility for looking after home, family and property during a bushfire. With this in mind, Mongarlowe Volunteer Bushfire Brigade has organised a workshop especially for local women. Come along and learn how you can prepare yourself, your home and your property for the eventuality of fire.

When: Sunday 6 March 2011, 9.45 am to 3.30 pm Where: Mongarlowe Fire Shed, Northangera Road, Mongarlowe.

Come join us for a cuppa at 9.45am, followed by the official start of the workshop promptly at 10am. Please bring a salad or cake to share for lunch. The Brigade will supply barbequed sausages and bread.

Keynote Speaker: Jenny Filmer. Jenny has over 40 years experience as a volunteer firefighter and community educator. In 2003 Jenny was awarded an Order of Australia in recognition of the workshop program she developed, Fire Fighting for Non Fire Fighting Women. Following the 2009 Victorian bushfires, Jenny published this information in book form to make it more widely available. She will be speaking on ‘When the Fire Comes to You.’ RSVP: Contact Gail Nichols on 4842 8133 or email: [email protected]
