X Contact us p. 30 I History and experience Founded in 1976, Ellevi got its start making hand-crafted furniture. The Experts in transforming rooms into company evolved over the years, project comfortable accommodations since 1976. after project, client after client, to become an important player providing furnishings for various industries, from boutiques to shopping centres and large office spaces. Ellevi entered the cruise ship refurbishing field in the mid- 1980s, an essential step that led it to become the international pioneer and leader it is today. We optimise timelines and resources without sacrificing quality, consistently bringing Italian craftsmanship and taste to each project, from cabins to public spaces. Starting from our headquarters in Nova Milanese, we’ve worked all around the globe, designing and successfully completing logistically challenging projects. Today, in addition to our main offices in Nova Milanese, we have branches in Miami and London, two of the world’s most important international business hubs. And of course, we work with people, equipment, knowledge, resources and technology just about everywhere. Over the past few decades, we’ve continued to innovate in terms of means and methods, growing and evolving along with the market. This 40-year journey has provided us with the organisational abilities, skills and contacts to successfully address the complex challenges of today and tomorrow. 05 II Company mission For this reason, our mission isn’t limited to the usual deadlines and We believe that the client won’t be budget constraints, which are of satisfied until the end user is satisfied. course a priority to us. As we work, we never forget that the end user is at the heart of every project, and that quality can never come in second place. At Ellevi, that means durable, long-lasting materials, quality as perceived value and, last but not least, quality understood as beauty. As we plan the décor of each room, we ask ourselves how we would ideally use it. It’s the only way to truly add value, going above and beyond the needs of our clientele. 07 Large-scale projects are often too complex to divide up while ensuring excellent results. III Expertise This is precisely why Ellevi offers Our clients trust us from A to Z turnkey solutions for all fit- out and refurbishing projects. because we manage projects From in-house manufacturing from A to Z. to a network of specialised suppliers, even covering electrical and plumbing systems, up to maintenance of the finished product, we manage and oversee each phase of the process. Our start-to-finish approach guarantees the success of our clients’ projects. "High-quality turnkey refurbishing projects." 9 We work side-by-side with architects and project managers to optimise each project, ensuring the highest quality in terms of execution, budget compliance and deadlines. IV Engineering & design We work alongside architects to turn creativity into reality. 11 Many of our production processes take place in-house. This means we control all manufacturing phases, making us more flexible and responsive. Our exclusive know-how makes it possible to combine cutting-edge industrial innovation with the craftsmanship and attention to detail that special projects require. We are equipped with the most advanced technological resources used in the carpentry industry today. In addition, our products adhere to CE standards (safety, energy efficiency, etc.) and meet the complex, specific needs of our clients. All while maintaining the attention to detail that Made in Italy products are known for around the globe. Manufacturing V facilities We directly control each aspect of the manufacturing process to ensure the quality of the finished product. 13 We’re well-versed in the important role that warehouse and distribution logistics play in the industry. It’s no accident that our headquarters, the heart of the company, is adjacent to our 10,000 m2 warehouse. To stay competitive in the marine industry (on dry docks and especially while in service), we’ve had to reinvent logistics from scratch, ensuring that deliveries coincide perfectly with vessels as they travel the globe. This means guaranteeing the availability of materials and managing projects in different countries so that deadlines are met, no matter where the ship is on that date. With so much at stake, mistakes VI Logistics simply are not an option. We’re maestros of logistics at sea. It’s a demanding but exciting road to take, one which has made And on land. sure we’re always prepared, ready for the most difficult logistical challenges that come our way. 15 Cutting-edge project management VII At Ellevi, project management is understood as the fusion of Many aim to manage each day. knowledge, ability, tools and We manage each minute. techniques to meticulously plan each phase of a given project. To us, constant communication and coordination with the client and all other professionals involved is essential. So, we’ve developed special proprietary solutions in collaboration with the Project Management Institute and the American Production and Inventory Control Society to remotely manage and oversee even the smallest details, in real time. 17 We make use of platforms dedicated to client, ship and order management, and we’ve equipped our experts out in the field with tools that speed up the measurement phase by directly exchanging information with Ellevi headquarters. In addition, we’re able to constantly monitor each part of a project to dynamically allocate the required resources. This advanced degree of automation makes it possible to offer our clients the peace of mind that comes from an always-active monitoring console. Verification of the work in progress is just a click away, ensuring it’s on track with established objectives. 18 Ellevi thrives at the cutting edge of the marine refurbishing industry, a field defined by extremely complex logistical and organisational challenges. Our decades of experience are crucial, especially in situations that require absolute quality, elegance, flexibility and responsiveness. From cabins to restaurants, entertainment halls and lounges for passengers and the crew, Ellevi’s expertise will improve any space on the ship, adding a unique, refined, entirely Italian touch. • Sea Travel Industry of Today
37 Sea travel industry of today “Home is where you drop your anchor” - Unknown 38 3. SEA TRAVEL INDUSTRY OF TODAY 39 03-01 The development of air travel allowed for further and faster domestic and international travel. This meant a decrease in rail and sea travel, which became predominantly cargo, whilst the reintroduction of sea travel was a means of leisure as opposed to a means of travel from one destination to another. Air travel replaced the meaning of sea travel from what it was originally, therefore different considerations apply when comparing air and sea travel. MSC cruises has experienced unprecedented growth the last few years and is currently one of the leading cruise companies in the Mediterranean, Brazil and South Africa. The ultra modern fleet consists of 11 vessels that are expected to carry over 1.6 million travelers and employ 15500 staff. The company was born in the Mediterranean and draws inspiration from the Mediterranean way of life which it creates for travelers all over the world (Cruise Lines International Association, 2014). 3..1. south African vessels 40 Msc opera reception foyer MSC Cruises have four identical Lirica Class vessels, two of which are used in South 03-04 Africa during cruise seasons. These include the MSC Sinfonia and the MSC Opera, which accommodate 2069 passengers and 700 staff each (Msccruises.co.za, 2014). The South African cruise season commences in October of each year and operates until April of the following year. The two vessels travel between South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius. Cruise ships are only berthed at the port of Durban on Mondays and Fridays, therefore this will be considered in order for the new terminal to be feasible for the months or days when the building is not active.

  • Cruise Ship Owners/Operators and Passenger Ship Financing & Management Companies
More than a Directory! Cruise Ship Owners/Operators and Passenger Ship Financing & Management Companies 1st Edition, April 2013 © 2013 by J. R. Kuehmayer www.amem.at Cruise Ship Owners / Operators Preface The AMEM Publication “Cruise Ship Owners/Operators and Passenger Ship Financing & Management Compa- nies” in fact is more than a directory! Company co-ordinates It is not only the most comprehensively and accurately structured listing of cruise ship owners and operators in the industry, despite the fact that the majority of cruise lines is more and more keeping both the company’s coordinates and the managerial staff secret. The entire industry is obtrusively focused on selling their services weeks and months ahead of the specific cruise date, collecting the money at a premature stage and staying almost unattainable for their clients pre and after cruise requests. They simply ignore the fact that there are suppliers and partners around who wish to keep in touch personally at least with the cruise line’s technical and procurement departments! The rest of the networking-information is camouflaged by the yellow-pages industry, which is facing a real prospect of extinction. The economic downturn is sending the already ailing business into a tailspin. The yellow-pages publishers basically give back in one downturn what took seven years to grow! Cruise Ship Financing It is more than a directory as it unveils the shift in the ship financing sector and uncovers how fast the traditional financiers to the cruise shipping industry fade away and perverted forms of financing are gaining ground. Admittedly there are some traditional banks around, which can maintain their market position through a blend of sober judgements, judicious risk management and solid relationships.
