High School Conference Affiliation Community Feedback Meeting Oblong High School Gym Monday, May 7, 2012 7:00 PM High School Conference Affiliation Community Feedback Meeting Oblong High School Gym Monday, May 7, 2012 7:00 PM The Little Okaw Valley Conference is planning an expansion beginning with the 2014-2015 school year and has formally invited Oblong High School to join the new conference. The Oblong CUSD #4 Board of Education is currently considering this invitation and requests feedback from our stakeholders. Please attend this meeting as well as fill out the attached feedback survey. The purpose of this meeting is to allow Board Members the opportunity to hear the concerns, support, or opposition to this opportunity. Travel Miles Sheet • Total miles by sport for conference games only compare our current Little Illini Conference (LIC) affiliation with the Little Okaw Valley Conference (LOVC). • The LIC information is arranged by fewest possible travel miles and the LOVC is arranged by greatest possible travel miles. • Non-conference games are not included for either. • The purpose of this sheet is to evaluate travel times and cost. Enrollment Sheet • The enrollments used are from ihsa.org for the 2011-2012 season. • The purpose of this sheet is to evaluate enrollments compared to the Oblong High School enrollment of 177. This illustrates potential competitiveness. Feedback Survey • Please return the feedback survey to the Oblong High School or Oblong Grade School Office by Friday, May 4th. • Please include questions, concerns, support, or opposition in this survey. Your feedback is strongly encouraged and appreciated. The information will be compiled and shared with Oblong CUSD #4 Board Members. The Board of Education and Administration will do our best to discuss questions or concerns at the Conference Affiliation Feedback Meeting. We request your feedback to make the best possible decision for our students, school, and stakeholders. No decision will be made at the feedback meeting. A decision is requested by the LOVC no later than June 1, 2012. The acceptance of new members is also dependent on all other invited schools accepting the invitation. Thanks for your consideration.
