Sanctioned Event List 6.3.21 NO CODE U.S. Figure Skating’s United Airlines Travel Discounts As a member of U.S. Figure Skating you are eligible to receive discounted flights to U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned events on United Airlines. Book now by calling the United Olympic Desk at 1‐800‐841‐0460 and receive up to 10% off the retail fare price by mentioning the designated code which you can find posted on the members only site by going to www.usfsaonline.org. The designated code will also be shared with U.S. Figure Skating members through monthly email communications and in the SKATING magazine publication. Prior to calling the Olympic Desk to book travel, we strongly encourage you to verify the event you are booking is included on the list of sanctioned events (see below for an updated list of U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned events). The competition crowns U.S. champions in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The 2021 U.S. Championships will serve as the final qualifying event prior to selecting and announcing the U.S. World Figure Skating Team that will represent Team USA at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm. The marquee event was relocated from San Jose, California, to Las Vegas late in the fall due to COVID-19 considerations. San Jose meanwhile was awarded the 2023 Toyota U.S. Championships, marking the fourth time that the city will host the event.     June 29, 2021 Lausanne, Switzerland Olympic and World Champions to return to ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events 2021/22 The World's best Figure Skaters including Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu (JPN), reigning World Champions Nathan Chen (USA), Anna Shcherbakova (RUS), Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Galliamov (RUS) and Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov (RUS), European Champions, Olympic, World and European medalists are getting ready to compete in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series 2021/22 in the Olympic season. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2020/21 events were primarily domestically run events with domestic skaters. Four events took place. This season a full Grand Prix season is planned if the circumstances allow it. The ISU will monitor the situation constantly and make sure that events can be held safely. Overview of the events The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series consists of six events: Skate America in Las Vegas (USA) October 22-24, Skate Canada International in Vancouver (CAN) October 29-31, Cup of China in Chongqing (CHN) November 5-7, NHK Trophy in Tokyo (JPN) November 12-14, Internationaux de France in Grenoble (FRA) November 19-21 and Rostelecom Cup in Sochi (RUS) November 26-28. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final will take place in Osaka (JPN) December 9-12. Overview of the top contenders “Quad queens” Anna Shcherbakova (FSR) and Alexandra Trusova (FSR) are aiming high at their debut at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, especially since missing out last year when the event was cancelled. These teenagers have multiple quadruple jumps in their arsenal – Lutz and Flip for Shcherbakova, Lutz, Flip, Salchow and Toeloop for Trusova. The first and so far only quad performed by a Lady at an ISU senior-level ISU World Figure Skating Championship was Elizabet Tursynbaeva’s (KAZ) quad Salchow in 2019. Tursynbaeva is not competing this time. Shcherbakova earned her third consecutive national title in December with spectacular performances. Trusova looked strong as well at Nationals and the Russian Team Event. Rika Kihira (JPN) wants to break through the Russian dominance. The two-time ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Champion also has added a quad (Salchow) to her repertoire and has another trump card - the triple Axel. Kihira will be competing in her second ISU World Figure Skating Championship after coming 4th in her debut in 2019. She landed her first quad Salchow in competition at the Japanese Championships last December and scored a clear victory. A strong group of more experienced Ladies is eying the podium as well. Stockholm will see the return of “The Empress” Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (FSR), who returns to the World stage for the first time since 2015, when she had won her ISU World and European titles.
