Holy Week Tent He’s dead. Oh wait....no, He’s Alive! Nothing in human history compares While temperatures were in with the resurrection of Jesus. For indeed he WAS dead, but death was no the 70’s this past week, match for the power of God’s life. And the Resurrection of Jesus was not a there’s no guarantee that on mere historical event that took place 2000 years ago, but that singular event Palm Sunday and Easter makes it clear even today that our brief time on earth is not all that life is about. things will be as warm. So Holy Week recall from past years, people interrupts “business as usual” at least when it comes to how we pray find themselves waiting together. Some people love this; some people are bothered by this. And the outside for the earlier Mass to devil -- who we met at the start of Lent when reflecting on the temptations of end. And their real crime appears to the Saturday 5pm Mass and be that they are sitting in “our” seats! So we grumble amongst ourselves and the Sunday Family Mass line up early so “they” can’t have what we’ve had all these other weeks. YEAR OF MERCY OCT. 2015—NOV. 2016

A Series of Help and Support

Pope Francis has proclaimed December 8, 2015 -November 20, 2016 A Year of Mercy. In celebration, St. Bernard’s will sponsor a series of monthly presentations designed to support families who are facing various challenges in their homes or community.

Facing Concerns About Divorce and Annulment Monday, March 14, 7:30-9:00 p.m., St. Bernard’s Parish Center—All are welcome.

If you or someone you know has questions about where divorced people, unmarried or re-married, stand in the Catholic Church, come to this evening to learn and ask questions. Common conceptions: divorced people are sinners, unmarried divorced people can’t receive communion, children become “illegitimate” after an annulment, only “important” and/or rich people can get annulments, annulments take a long time and cost a lot of money. COME GET THE FACTS!

Deacon Thomas Rich, D. Min., J.C.L. is the Chairperson of the Nursing Department at Nassau Community College and an Associate Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Canon Law at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. Well-equipped with advanced degrees in Nursing, Health Education, Religious Studies, Canon Law and Pastoral Counseling, he serves as a Diocesan Judge of the Marriage Tribunal of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the team that assists people with the annulment process. He also serves as deacon at Our Lady of Hope Church in Carle Place.

Next Up: Monday, April 11: Topic to be announced.

Words of MERCY from Pope Francis:

“Ours is to plant the seeds...” Over the course of the next year we will feature some thoughts from one of Pope Francis’ talks or homilies. We invite you to think, talk and pray about what it might be saying to you and to our parish about our MISSION as followers of Jesus Christ as we seek with faith, hope and love to bring the Gospel to the Levittown community and beyond.

“Ours is to plant the seeds: God sees to the fruits of our labors. And if at times our efforts and works seem to fail and produce no fruit, we need to remember that we are followers of Jesus...and his life, humanly speaking, ended in failure, the failure of the cross.” From Pope Francis’ Homily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Sept. 24, 2015

What “seeds” of God’s love have you planted that you are waiting to produce fruit?

Can you pray for the patience to “let go and let God” nurture the “seed “and bring the “fruit” to maturity?
