Important Notice – Disposal of all Second Hand Football Boots Members would be aware that the Club facilitates the sale of second hand boots on behalf of our members. We now have too many boots and too many unsaleable boots.

As at August 2008 all boots still remaining with the Club will revert to Club ownership. The Committee proposes to keep some of the boots for sale in 2009 but the vast majority of unsold boots will be donated to charity at year end.

If you have left boots for sale by the Club and do not want to donate them please collect them from Percy Doyle on Saturday 16 August between 9 – 11pm (last day of Auskick in 2008). Proceeds from any boots sold before this date will continue to be given to the owners listed on the lace tags. Thanks

Help – Club Roles Vacant.

Ground Markers: We are still in desperate need of some additional Ground Marking support. The task is not difficult and simply requires somebody to push our line maker around and oval or two every couple of weeks. Good fun keeps you fit and enables you to contribute to the Club. Job can be done any day of the week as long as the oval is not being used. Males and Females are encouraged to apply. Contact Michael Byrne if you can help on Ph 0408 922 622.

Communications Experts: Line Painting not your thing not your thing? What about writing. We are looking for somebody to take on the Monthly Newsletter (only 4 or 5 issues per year) as well as taking on the Product on the Annual Year book. Very rewarding and makes a great contribution to the Club. Please contact Dave Clark 04089561509.

Legal Eagle: We need to update the Club Constitution and in particular address a few issues in the current Deed. In fact the entire Constitution needs a good overhaul. Looking for any Legal Eagle volunteers to come to the rescue. Please contact Dave Clark 04089561509 or [email protected]

2009 Committee: We need to start thinking about the 2009 Committee. All roles become vacant at the AGM. Several long serving Committee members are coming to the natural end of their involvement in Junior Football and hence the will leave vacancies on the Committee. Please do not leave this valuable work to a few. We need your help! Please contact Dave Clark 04089561509 or [email protected] to discuss potential roles on the Committee in 2009.

Congratulations to our Super Stars! Mark Lawler who in addition to being the Club Register has taken on the role of Club Web Master.

Calling for Nominations for SDJFC Life Membership

Each year the SDJFC Committee considers nominations for Life Membership. Life Membership is one of the few ways our Club can provide special recognition to individuals who have made a significant contribution to your Club. To assist, your Committee we would like to hear from you on who you think would be a worthy recipient. General criteria for this special recognition include:

Coaches & Managers Coaches and Managers who have completed eight years of coaching and have done so in accordance with the SDJFC Coaching Policy and have made a significant contribution to the development of players within the Club.

Committee Club officials who have made a significant contribution over an extended period in key roles. This would generally equate to a minimum of 8 years service with a portion of that service being in one of the Executive Committee roles. A key factor to be considered is that the club has progressed during the period of service. In other words “it is left in better shape that it was when they commenced,” relative to the portfolios they coordinated/managed.

If you would like to nominate an individual for consideration for Life Membership please pass the appropriate details through to any of our 2008 Committee or via email to Dave Clark.

Little League at the AFL:

Twenty very excited SDJFC 12yo’s were selected to represent the club in a Little League fixture at on Sunday 20th April. The side consisted of players from the Dolphins, Lions and Hawks teams. A brief training session prior to the big day provided the players with an opportunity to get to know each other and it soon became apparent that a very strong team would represent the club. On the actual day the boys were a little nervous, though extremely excited and this was reflected in the way they played for each other in front of 40 000 spectators. Their skills were superb and their teamwork amazing as the side, wearing West Coast jumpers, gave the Port Adelaide team a football lesson. After the game, the boys formed a guard of honour for the as they ran back onto the ground. This truly was an awesome experience for these young men and a night I’m sure they will never forget. Many thanks to Dion Marinovich of Gourmet Chevups for purchasing a large photo for each of the boys to keep as a souvenir in order to remember this fantastic occasion.
