May 5, 2008 Issue 88 Winter ARBs: Beyond The 12+ In golf, they say you drive for show and putt for dough. In radio, the 12+ ratings are for show and the 25-54 shares are where the dough is. With that in mind, here’s a peak behind the 12+ numbers Country stations are posting in the recently released Winter 2008 Arbitrons. For a complete overview of Country’s 12+ ratings thus far, be sure to check out page seven. A reminder: Trade publications are only licensed to print 12+ figures. Whenever you have a demo or daypart story to tell, please send it to [email protected]. Buffalo: WYRK’s 25-54 story is even more impressive that the double-digit 12+ shares it posted. Beyond the 12+ (continued from page 1) WLIT in what Peterson described as a “new and very heavily marketed AC battle.” WCFS’s fall-winter 12+ rose 1.4-1.8. However, its shares among Women 18-34 grew by 4.2 shares while WUSN’s W18-34 shares fell by .8 point and were two-and-a-half shares below its Spring 2007 high-water mark. It’s a similar story among Women 18-49, where WCFS grew by 2.6 shares. WUSN fared better among the upper end of that cell, only falling by .2 W18-49. Still, its winter number was 1.4 shares behind its Spring 2007 W18-49 shares. Among Women 25-54, every Country station’s bread and butter, WCFS rose by 2.1 points while WUSN was off .6 shares. US99’s Spring 2007 W25-54 figure was 2.2 shares ahead of its Winter 2008 shares.
