The stadium honors the late Milton W. “Scotty” Wood for his many years of support and service to the College and its scholar athletes. He began Wood Dining Services, now prominent in the food service industry, in 1947 by feed- ing Muhlenberg players. The Mules’ annual tipoff basketball tourna- ment is also named in his honor. The field honors the late Frank Marino, one of the most beloved coaches in school history. He led the football team to a 54-40-6 record from 1970 to 1980 and was 1976 Middle Atlantic Conference coach of the year. Marino, who passed away in January 2011, served the athletic department in numer- ous other capacities – including head men’s lacrosse coach from 1968 to 1978 – during his 40-plus-year association with the College, earning the respect, loyalty and admiration of hundreds of young men and women.
