The course is 97% rail trail and less than 3% asphalt. 1 We chose this race due to the unique scenic character of the course and the amazing communities that support the trail. We would like to thank Belleville, Monticello, New Glarus, Monroe and Orangeville for their hospitality. Please enjoy these towns, spend time and money in them and get to know them. They have a ton to offer. Runners will be well supported on their journey with full aid stations every 5-8 miles. You will be timed from the start to the moment you cross the finish line. REGISTRATION You can register at ultrasignup: https:ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?.did=62424 But only through August 1, 2019. You can change your registration or defer your entry until next year up to that date as well. There are NO REFUNDS. (You can transfer your entry though). Need to know HEADLAMPS: The race goes through the Stewart Tunnel twice for all distances and three times for the Badger 100. The tunnel is 130 years old, curved and dark. In fact, when you get to the middle you can’t see ANYTHING!!! While it is possible to get through without a light (let us know if you did it) we STRONGLY recommend carrying something that makes light. A small hand held flashlight, a pen light, a phone with a flashlight or, if you’re easily creeped out, just take a headlamp. It’s only pitch black for a minute or so, but it’s super dark. Sidenote: if this sort of thing scares you consider buddying up. If someone asks to go through the tunnel with you be cool and help a friend out.2 1 In 2019 the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be performing highway repairs that will necessitate an approximately 1.1 mile detour on roads (3.3 miles total). 2 More on the tunnel here: https://wqad.com/2019/07/08/how-brave-are-you-this-old-train-tunnel-in-southern-wisconsin-is-open-to-hik ers-and-bikers/?fbclid=IwAR2carvJv3j6rZFHtNvwHxjrFQ5XzPbqksub6-HI1Vh3-WrHA4OaE7yHXF4 2 ROOKIES: (Us not you) This is our first race. We’re trying as hard as we can to do the best job we can. If something isn’t right or something goes wrong (we hope it won’t) we’re sorry in advance. You guys are part of the inaugural race and we are touched that you trust us. Send us any comments or suggestions to [email protected] PODCAST: Ten Junk Miles is a podcast available on itunes and anywhere else people listen to them. It is a companion to your run featuring friends talking about the kind of stuff they would talk about on the trail or a long, one on one interview with a notorious person in or adjacent to the sport. If you haven’t listened to it you are missing out, try it!! BELLEVILLE COMMUNITY PARK: Is Race HQ. It’s located at 39 N River Street, Belleville, Wisconsin 53508.
