Outdoor Shoot Location Ideas

Singapore has so many fantastic outdoor shoot locations with a wide variety of styles to choose from. In this document you can see some of the most popular choices available though we are not limited to these and we can visit anywhere you like. I have included a couple of example photos for each but there are plenty more if you would like to scroll through my previous portfolios on my website using the link below;

Gardens by the bay GBTB can be quite a green option but with a nice variety of photo opportunities and bonus of the iconic super trees. It is a nice location for exploring with the children to keep them entertained. Best to get there as early as possible to avoid the crowds and heat.

Botanic gardens Another very iconic location for a shoot and probably one of the greenest spots in if you want a natural setting. It is very large so there are a few different smaller circuits we can do depending on which part is your favourite to visit. The crowds are fairly easy to avoid but it is still advisable to get there early.

Gardens by the bay EAST side This is the East side of GBTB where you can have the whole cityscape of the super trees, MBS, flower domes and flyover as a wonderful backdrop. But it is also a waterside park so you can get a bit of a green feel too.

Sentosa; Siloco or Tanjong Beach If you are looking for a beachy vibe for your shoot, then has a few great options. Both Siloco and Tanjong are fairly similar and it is indeed possible to avoid having the shipping boats in your photos if you visit these spots. Tanjong tends to be a better option for potential sunrise shoots. If you get there early you can have the whole beach to yourself and it looks great.

Fort Canning Fort Canning is a beautiful park with lovely old architecture and also very green. There are some really cool and unique photo opportunities there.

Helix Bridge/Marina Bay The has an awesome design and sits right next to the downtown marina for a backdrop of the city and MBS. This is one of the best spots if you are looking for a memento of the downtown marina.

East coast park Carpark E2 is the nicest stretch of beach that I have found along East Coast Park for another great beach feel shoot. The best thing about East Coast Park is that it has a great possibility of unobstructed sunrise photos, unlike anywhere I have seen in Singapore. This requires a super early start though of around 6:45-7am depending on the time of year.

Coloured shop fronts

Singapore has a number of famous locations for the coloured houses and shop fronts. There are three main streets/areas that are available and each of them are slightly different colours and vibrancies. 1) Emerald Hill Road, 2) Blair Road and 3) Koon Seng Road. All of them are nice colourful shoot options with some cool street art paintings too.

Option 1; Emerald Hill Road These are a nice vibrant mixture of shop front, houses and coloured walls but no street art. I have found it is best to start around 8am so the traffic is not too busy.

Option 2; Blair Road Coloured houses Blair Road has the colonial coloured houses that are a little more subtle tones and has some very cool street art too. We must start no earlier than 8am because most of the cars will have left for work but the traffic is still not too busy before we finish around 9am.

Option 3; Koon Seng Road And a similar one to option 2 is the brighter coloured houses on Koon Seng Road. They are also very famous and similar to Blair Road but a bit more vibrant. You also have some fantastic bright colour walls and street art. We must start at 7:30 because traffic gets very busy around 8:30-9am.

Hort Park This park is fantastic for the younger children as it has lots of little play areas for all ages but at the same time it has vast selection of arty and playful structures to explore. The unique landscaping design makes for some really cool photo opportunities. It’s usually not very crowded but still good to get there early to avoid the heat.

Keppel Bay The marina at Keppel bay makes for a unique backdrop compared to most other locations in Singapore. It has a great wide walkway that runs along the bay and a nice light airy clean feel to the photos due to all the wonderful white boats and yachts in the background.
