Notice Of Race

1.0 Rules 1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of 2013- 2016. 1.2 The New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply. 1.3 The current SCIA Class Rules shall apply to the Splash fleet. Carbon masts will not be permitted.

2.0 Changes to Racing Rules The rules will be modified in accordance with rule 86 as follows: 2.1 Rules 35 and A4.1 are changed to read “Boats failing to finish within 20 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes, will be scored, Did not finish”.

4.0 Eligibility and Entry 4.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the , P Class, , Splash, 420, , , , RS:X and Techno classes. The Optimist class will be divided into Open and Green fleet classes. The Organising Authority may accept entries from other classes on the day of the regatta. All classes must comply with their Class rules. 4.2 The entry fee for single handed boats is $60.00 and $30 per additional family sailor. The entry fee for two handed boats is $75.00. 4.3 The combined entry fee for Splash Class boats sailing the Junior Sail Auckland Regatta and the Splash National Regatta shall be $120.00 4.4 Registration is online through ClubHub, a link is provided via the KYC website. Registration closes online at 6pm Thursday 7th February. 4.5 At the discretion of the Race Committee, late entries may be accepted Saturday morning before 9am, a $20.00 late fee will apply. 4.6 Measurement spot checks may be made and each boat is required to meet its class regulations. Boats may be inspected at any time during the regatta for compliance. 4.7 To be eligible to compete in the regatta each competitor must be a financial member of a club recognised by the competitor’s national authority. 4.8 Splash Sailors competing in the Splash National Regatta shall join the NZSCA payable at registration ($30) 4.9 To be eligible to win major awards in the Splash National Regatta, Splash sailors shall be under the age of 19 on the 9th February 2013. 4.11 The Splash Class is an ISAF Youth Class. However to promote and encourage Splash sailing in NZ, sailors over the age of 19 on the 9th February 2013 will be awarded prizes within the categories identified in Clause 12.1

5.0 Schedule of Events 5.1 Registration – 0830-0945 upstairs in the KYC clubhouse Splash Competitors must produce the following at registration: -proof of club membership -proof of date of birth 5.2 Briefing - 1000 hours at the KYC clubhouse. 5.3 Racing schedule 5.3.1 Saturday 9th February The scheduled time of the warning signal for race 1 is 1100 hours. Races 2, 3 & 4 will be sailed back to back. 5.3.2 Sunday 10th February The scheduled time of the warning signal for race 5 is 1100 hours. Races 6 & 7 will be sailed back to back The Splash Class will sail race 8 following race 7 on Sunday 5.3.3 Monday 11th February The Splash Class will sail races 9, 10 & 11 back to back to complete the Splash National Regatta. The warning signal for race 9 is 1000 hours. 5.3.4 No race will start after 1600 hours on Sunday 10th February. 5.3.5 No race will start after 1500 hours on Monday 11th February

6.0 Sailing Instructions Sailing Instructions will be available on the KYC website prior to commencement of the regatta.

7.0 Racing Area The races will be held off the Eastern Bays between Orakei Wharf and St Heliers Beach, Waitemata Harbour, Auckland.

8.0 Courses to be Sailed The courses will be trapezoids, triangles, or windward/ leeward.

9.0 Scoring 9.1 Junior Sail Auckland- Two races will constitute a series 9.2 When up to 5 races have been completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores. 9.3 When 6 or more races have been completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst race score. 9.4 Splash National Regatta- Five races will constitute a series 9.5 When 6 to 9 races have been completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst race score. 9.5 When 10 or more races have been completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

10.0 Alternative Penalties 10.1 Appendix N may apply.

11.0 Spare

12.0 Prizes 12.1 Junior Sail Auckland - Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters for Optimist Open, Optimist Green, P Class, Starling, Splash, Laser 4.7, Laser radial, 29er, 420 and Techno classes provided there are four entries in the class. If there are not four entries in the class, the winner will be awarded a prize. Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Authority. 12.1 Splash National Regatta – The NZ Splash Class National Trophy will be awarded to the overall Youth Winner. The NZ Splash Class National Female Trophy will be awarded to the overall Youth Female Winner. The Splash Senior Championship Trophy will be awarded to the highest placed competitor over the age of 19. The Splash Senior Women’s Trophy will be awarded to the highest placed female competitor over the age of 19. A trophy will be awarded to the highest placed competitor under the age of 15. A trophy will be awarded to the highest placed first time nationals competitor.

13.0 Team Support Boats 13.1 Team support boats will be allowed. 13.2 Team support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority and must stay at least 100 metres outside the racecourse area, with the exception of those giving assistance to Optimist Green Fleet sailors who are positioned in the bottom half of their fleet.

14.0 Disclaimer of Liability Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority and the Splash Class Association will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, during or after the regatta.
