An upcoming musician and an established musician join their forces for an evening of great -music. Maaike den Dunnen is a young jazz-singer, originally from Holland, who writes her own compositions and arrangements. She has won the title ‘Outstanding Performance’ in 2 categories of the Downbeat Student Music Awards 2011 (USA). Her own quintet was chosen a finalist in the prestigious ‘European Jazz Competition’, taking place at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2011 (NL). As a guest, she toured around Europe doing concerts with the European Jazz Orchestra (EU) and the RTV Big Band (SI). Dena DeRose, considered ‘The most creative and compelling singer-pianist since ’, may need no introduction. Originally from New York City, this singer-pianist has been touring all over the globe and is a highlight on today’s international jazz-scene. She has 9 CDs as a leader to her credit, all of which have received superior accolades, such as Grammy Nominations and being ranked in "Top 10 CD's" by All About Jazz and Downbeat Magazine (USA). She has worked with a variety of famous musicians such as , and Marianne McPartland. Both skilled in singing, playing the piano, composing and arranging, they will explore all the possible combinations of the above to create a unique concert that you don’t want to miss…watch out- instrument switches are involved!
