The Orchestra Association Elects New Members to Board of Directors

(Philadelphia, July 30, 2015)—The Philadelphia Orchestra Association has elected four new area business and community leaders to its Board of Directors: Joshua Gross, President of Mill Creek Capital Advisors, LLC; , performing and recording artist; Thomas Herr, a Principal at KPMG; and Ajay Raju, Dilworth Paxson’s Executive Chairman and CEO.

“As The Philadelphia Orchestra follows a path of upward momentum, with individual giving at historic levels and audiences returning, we are poised for further success,” said Philadelphia Orchestra Association Chairman Richard Worley. “Our Board of Directors has been key in helping us reach this juncture, and we look forward to the addition of these four respected area leaders who bring fresh perspectives to a highly motivated collective of business, artistic, and philanthropic leaders. Their passion, knowledge, and experience will be invaluable to maintaining and expanding our celebrated organization’s vision and mission.”

Biographical information on each newly-inducted Board member is below. A complete listing of the Orchestra’s current Board of Directors (also below) and volunteer leadership are posted on the Orchestra’s website and printed in each concert program book for all performances at the Kimmel Center.

• Joshua Gross is the President of Mill Creek Capital Advisors, LLC (MCCA) in Conshohocken, PA, and is on the firm’s Investment Committee. In 2014 & 2015, he was named in Barron’s Magazine Top 1200 Financial Advisor ranking, which honors the top 1% of advisors nationwide. In 2012 and 2013, Mr. Gross was named as one of America’s Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors by Barron’s Magazine. Prior to co-founding MCCA in 2006, he was a principal at Hirtle, Callaghan & Co., representing the firm for eight years in the Mid-Atlantic region. Previously, he worked at Quantex Microsystems and served active duty in the United States Navy aboard the carrier U.S.S. America (CV-66). Mr. Gross earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Gross serves on the board of the Scarlet Knights Wrestling Club & Foundation, which supports The Rutgers University wrestling team. He serves on the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network (Philadelphia) Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Investment Committee which oversees pension, captive insurance, endowment, and operating funds. Mr. Gross is a Board Member and on the Investment Committee serving The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. (Marlborough, MA) and as Chairman of the Investment Committee. Mr. Gross serves on the Investment Committee for Westtown School (Westtown, PA). Joshua Gross is an active member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

• Lauren Hart is a professional recording artist based in Philadelphia, perhaps best known for performing the National Anthem at home games—a team for which her father, the late , was the television and radio announcer for 29 years. Her rendition of the National Anthem appears on the soundtrack of the Disney film Miracle, and in 2005, she was voted the best anthem singer in NHL history in a Hockey News poll. She performed at Bill Clinton’s Presidential Inauguration, and has opened for musical acts such as Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Train, and 10,000 Maniacs. Ms. Hart recorded her first album, Painted Bride, with Columbia Records in 1997 and has since released five additional studio albums. She served three terms as Vice President of the Board of Governors for the National Recording Academy representing Philadelphia. Ms. Hart is a 15 year survivor of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and has previously served as the spokesperson for Penn Medicine’s cancer program at Kennedy Hospital. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Pennsylvania Hospital Cancer Center, and is an honorary board member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Southern New Jersey Chapter. She has been honored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with its prestigious “Person of the Year” Award and named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the Friends of the American Cancer Society. Ms. Hart attended Temple University and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in music. Lauren Hart, her husband Todd Carmichael, co-founder and CEO of La Colombe Torrefaction, and their four children currently reside in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.

• Thomas Herr is a Principal at KPMG, leading the company’s Transfer Pricing Practice in Philadelphia. In that role, he helps large multi-national companies evaluate international investment opportunities, structure intercompany transactions, value their assets and navigate the complex international regulatory environment. Previously, he led the firm’s Transfer Pricing practice in Minneapolis, MN and worked in KPMG’s London and Washington, DC offices. Mr. Herr earned a master's degree in economics from the University of St. Gallen Switzerland, focusing on international economics and finance. He also earned a master's degree in international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. Mr. Herr holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Chicago chapter of the CFA Institute. He has authored a number of articles on transfer pricing and international tax issues that were published in the Bureau of National Affairs' Tax Management Transfer Pricing Report and the International Tax Review.

• Ajay Raju is Executive Chairman and CEO of Dilworth Paxson, a law firm representing a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to closely-held businesses, governmental entities, individuals, and non-profit organizations. Mr. Raju’s legal practice has a strong emphasis on structured finance and real estate capital markets transactions. Recognized as one of the foremost authorities on issues arising from India’s emergence as a global power, Mr. Raju is regularly called upon by leading multinational corporations to provide counsel on navigating the Indian market, and to act as a liaison and negotiator within India's complex regulatory regime. He was recently named by Lex Witness, a leading Indian journal of legal and corporate

affairs, as one of India’s Top 50 power players shaping the country’s modern legal and business landscapes. In 2011, Mr. Raju was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter to the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Works, the region’s premier workforce development agency and the City’s fiscal agent for state and federal employment and training funds. He also serves as chairman of The Center PAC, a federal and state non- partisan political action committee that supports policies and candidates who champion entrepreneurship, economic growth, and sustainable prosperity throughout the region. A sought-after thought leader, he appears as a regular on Inside Story, a Sunday-morning news and roundtable debate show which airs on ABC’s WPVI station serving the Greater Philadelphia market. Ajay Raju also serves as a member of the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Southeastern Pennsylvania’s leading business advocacy organization; as a member of the Board for /NBCUniversal’s Joint Diversity Council; as a Board member of the World Affairs Council, the region’s preeminent leadership and educational forum on international affairs; as a member of the Corporate Executive Board for the Philadelphia Museum of Art; as a member of the Chairman’s Council for the Philadelphia Zoo; as a member of the Cultural Cabinet of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance; as Pennsylvania State Chair of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys; as a member of the Archbishop’s Cabinet for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; as Chairman of the Friends of The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, head church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia; as a founding Board member of I-LEAD, a Philadelphia community-based college degree program; as a member of the Drexel University Leadership Council; and as an Executive Board member of Live Arts & Philly Fringe.
