1199 SEIU League of Registered Nurses Office of Continuing Education fosters the professional growth and development of its RN members and the nursing community at large. We are committed to providing quality need-specific continuing education programs that are reflective of current issues and trends in healthcare and nursing.

PURPOSE: The program is designed to prepare Professional Registered Nurses to take the Medical Surgical Nurse Certification Examination by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Experienced Professional Registered Nurses in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing should take this course.

INSTRUCTOR: Sylvia Mauricio, DHA – Ms. Mauricio is a former Director of Nursing for Case Management and Rehabilitation Nursing Services. Currently, Sylvia is a Director of Revenue Cycle Management at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. She had been involved in a variety of educational offerings that include Medical/Surgical Programs, Emergency Care Programs, Leadership Development, Case Management, and Discharge Planning. In 2002, Ms. Mauricio was one of the key speakers in an IPRO sponsored teleconferences entitled “Best Practices in Utilization Management.” Sylvia completed Doctor of Healthcare Administration in August, 2009

Registration Information. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

This is a 3-day educational benefit at no cost to all 1199 registered nurses whose employer contributes to the 1199 RN Training and Upgrading Fund. However, you are required to submit a security deposit in the amount of $90.00 which will be returned to you on the last day of the class provided you have complete the entire 3 days of this seminar. If you miss any part of the three days and/or do not cancel your registration within 10 days prior to the first day of the class, your check will be deposited.

1199 union members who are not eligible to take the course at no cost and Non-union participants may register for a fee of $440. Registration can be made by completing the registration form below and mailing it with your payment or register online at 1199seiu.org and use PAYPAL. All payments for registrations must be made at least 14 days in advance of the class. The registrant will be responsible for checks returned to us for insufficient funds and will be charged for additional bank processing fees and handling fees, as well as the amount of the check. NO REFUNDS will be given after the 14-day period prior to the actual date of the seminar or for a “NO –SHOW” on the day of the seminar.

CONFIRMATIONS: We will provide a written confirmation of your pre-registration but we assume no responsibility for you not showing up in a timely manner. It is the registrants’ responsibility to call and confirm your registration if you have not received a confirmation letter at least two weeks before the class. ATTENDANCE: Participants must attend at least 90% of the entire class session in order to earn the contact hours. Plan your schedules accordingly as WE DO NOT ISSUE CONTACT HOURS FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE.

MEALS: We provide a continental breakfast and a full lunch for all participants at no cost. Unfortunately, we are not able to meet everyone’s special dietary needs. If you think our menu may not be in keeping with your dietary/health needs, feel free to bring your own food or purchase from one of the many restaurants in the area.
