FALL CAMP INFO

Monday, October 8th - Friday, October 12th 2018

Movement Fun with Circus Olina 8:30am-2:30pm age 5-12

Circus Olina has created an exciting program, based around movement exercises in circus and dance. Your child will be moving a lot! Throughout the day we have different activities planned for you. The day will be split into 3 main activity blocks. The activity blocks will vary; everyday will feature circus activities/ disciplines. Circus disciplines for example are juggling, spinning plate, balance beam, walking globe or hula hooping. On our first day of camp kids get introduced to those different disciplines and the following days we will continue to practice them in a fun and age appropriate way.

This program works on and increases students’ balance, coordination, confidence, and team working skills. Learning circus skills can increase the development of students' motor skills, improve muscle tone, increase balance and develop better equilibrium reactions. Dancing will booth your child’s self-confident level.

Unicycling course 3-4:30pm age 7-12

You are 7 years old or older, than you can stay with us for the whole day and join us for some unicycling fun right after the Movement Camp! Daily from 3-4:30pm (2:30- 3pm recess for students who stay). Coordination, balance, and endurance are the key components if it comes to learn how to ride a unicycle. Learning how to ride a unicycle might seem impossible at first but we teach you how to get started, find your core strength and use the right techniques to improve quickly. This course is intended for all skill levels, from beginners to advance but limited to 4 new beginner students!

Aloha Wai’alae Parents,

Learning and progressing through each grade level here at Wai’alae is special and monumental, bringing with it academic learning, personal growth and experiences that shape our children’s future. Fourth grade is no different. This coming May, our 4 th graders will go on their muchanticipated Hawai’i Island Cultural Trip. For three days, they will learn and experience Hawaiian history through dance and song and visit important Hawaiian cultural sites. They will also spend lots of quality time with their friends. For many, this trip is a favorite and enduring memory of their elementary years.

Although 4 th grade parents pay much of the cost for this trip and other excursions, there is still additional fundraising needed in order to make these memorable learning trips possible. Although the bulk of the fundraising needs are for the Hawai'i Island Cultural Trip, our efforts will support all 4th grade fundraising needs.

To reach our fundraising goals, we have a series of fundraisers coming up to support our efforts: 1. Habilitat We have teamed up with Habilitat for the purchase of Christmas tress and wreaths. Ordering will be easy and done completely online. Tickets will be mailed to you and you pick up your tree/wreath order at your chosen location on 12/1. A flyer is attached. 2. Kona Ice – This FUN fundraiser is a hit every time! We are partnering with 5 th grade, and splitting proceeds. The Kona Ice T ruck comes by afterschool, on specified days, and our kiddies enjoy yummy shaved ice! How fun (and easy) is that?! 3. CPK Dinner – Visit CPK on a specific date in November (to be announced soon) and a percentage of profits will come back to support our cause. 4. AllSchool Concert – Plate lunch sale* for families that will be available outside the concert hall. *This fundraiser is currently tentative, and is still in the planning stages, but we are hoping to have it available. More info to come. 5. Regal Fundraising – This fundraiser is meant to allow individual families/children to offset their own cost. Please see a 4 th grade family in early October for tickets. ☺

There may be more fundraisers in the future, so for information on these fundraisers and more, please see the Wai’alae Weekly! Thank you for your support!
