A PRESENT TENSE ACCOUNT OF WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE PART OF THE STONES.By Santa Monica EarsRon Schneider provides a PRESENT TENSE account of what it was like to be a ROLLING STONE at the height of their fame which kept growing and growing. From inside the fishbowl and all the planes trains and automobiles along the way, you can't help wonder what you would do if given such a chance during your 20s. The Stones came off as very down to earth and willing to work very hard most days to show up for work, which was twice (or thrice) as long as any 9 to 5 job around. To keep such a railroad moving took a clear head of Mr. Schneider and a group individually and together willing to work real hard to get where they were going. Being a rock star is a dream come true, for sure, but each member, and that includes their manager, went rough each day as true troopers. Many concerts were frightening for the band, always having to plan their getaway though throngs of over charged fans, or poor designed stage situations which often had fans grabbing, attacking, or engulfing the band. I never knew exactly what it would be like, but this book placed me in the lives of The Rolling Stones, as if it were happening TODAY. A MUST READ!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Rolling Stones Insider Shares Memories and Rare Artifacts in New Book Back in the mid 1960s, overnight, a street- smart east coast kid went from being a college student to tour manager/moneyman and confidante to the Rolling Stones. The band didnrsquo;t eat, drink, or even play unless Ronnie Schneider did his job, and this trusting relationship led to a wild adventure that would soon include the Beatles, Swinging London, and producing the mythical rsquo;69 Stones tour that culminated in the infamous show at Altamont. In his new book, Schneider gives readers an all access pass into the most intimate spaces, from hotels and boardrooms to private planes and backstage debauchery, crunching deals, babysitting the band, tasting wine, woman and dope ndash; this is a front row seat to rockrsquo;s last great era; jam-packed with rare artifacts and all the paperwork to back it up. Chris Epting Author and award-winning journalist Aptly titled, the book, to say the least, is an excellent insight into the music scene of the late 60s to the 70s, its ups and downs and the pains and pleasures. Ron managed the Beatles for ABKCO, his legendary uncle Allen Klein's company for many years and independently managed the Rolling Stones till the 70s. In 5 decades of my readings, I have rarely come across a book that is so well researched and documented - a must read for the fans as also everyone interested in the entertainment industry. A MUST read!, February 27, 2017 By CustomerAbout the AuthorRonnie Schneider is among a select handful of individuals who can honestly claim to have taken an active part in the explosive beginnings of 1960's rock'n'roll. Upon leaving the University of Miami, where he majored in accounting, Ron Schneider moved to New York City and took a job with ABKCO Records. There he was responsible for handling the likes of Sam Cooke, Neil Sedaka, and Bobby Vinton. Then, Allen Klein instructed him that he would be touring with a group of boys called The Rolling Stones. Schneider would be responsible for them and their money. After accepting this challenge, Ron embarked on the road with the Greatest Rock and Roll band of all time. From there, he went on to work on the film, "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daugther" with Herman's Hermits. Working with the Beatles and producing spaghetti westerns, followed. When the Stones were ready to tour in 1969 they asked Schneider to assume sole responsibility for the Stones 1969 Tour. For this tour the Stones wanted footage to use for their European tour. This led to Schneider's hiring of the noted Maysles brothers to record the Stones' Madison Square Garden concert in "69. Schneider also invited the Maysles to film the free, outdoor concert, at Altamont. This film footage became Gimme Shelter. Na stolku před ním stál hrnek s kafem a on zatím s někým mluvil do vysílačky.

The British Invasion: Finding Traction in America by Piacentino Vona A thesis presented to the University Of Waterloo in fulfilment of the thesis requirement for the degree of Master of Arts in History Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, 2018 © Piacentino Vona 2018 Author’s Declaration I hereby declare that I am the sole author of this thesis. This is a true copy of the thesis, including any required final revisions, as accepted by my examiners. I understand that my thesis may be made electronically available to the public. ii Abstract As a period of American History, the 1960s has provided historians and academics with a wealth of material for research and scholarship. Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon, the Vietnam War, the hippie era, and the Civil Rights Movement, among other topics have received thorough historical discussion and debate. Music was another key aspect in understanding the social history of the 1960s. But unlike the people and events mentioned above, historians have devoted less attention to music in the historical landscape. The British Invasion was one such key event that impacted America in the 1960s. Bands such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who found their way into the United States and majorly impacted American society. Using secondary sources, newspaper articles, interviews and documentaries on these bands, this thesis explores the British Invasion and its influence in the context of 1960s America. This thesis explores multiple bands that came in the initial wave. It follows these bands from 1964-1969, and argues that the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who shared common multiple factors that allowed them to attain the traction to succeed and to maintain that success in the United States.

  • Hoher Besuch in Der Meckelhalle Tourmanager Der Rolling Stones Ronnie Schneider Besichtigt Sparkassen-Ausstellung
Hoher Besuch in der Meckelhalle Tourmanager der Rolling Stones Ronnie Schneider besichtigt Sparkassen-Ausstellung Freiburg. 30. Out of our heads – the Rolling Stones, The Beatles and me“.

  • The Killing Ground
THE KILLING GROUND 246Y_tx.indd 1 3/3/14 10:45 AM 246Y_tx.indd 2 3/3/14 10:45 AM It is late. All the little snakes are asleep. The world is black outside the car windows, just the dusty clay road in the headlights. Far from the city, past the last crossroads (where they used to bury suicides in England, with wooden stakes driven through their hearts), we are looking for a strange California hillside where we may see him, may even dance with him in his torn, bloody skins, come and play. A train overpass opens in the sky before us; as we come out of it there is an unmarked fork in the road. The Crystals are singing ‘He’s a Rebel.’ The driver See the way he walks down the street looks left, right, left Watch the way he shuffles his feet again. ‘He don’t know Oh, how he holds his head up high When he goes walkin’ by where he’s going,’ Keith He’s my guy says. ‘Do you – are you When he holds my hand I’m so proud sure this is the way?’ ’Cause he’s not just one of the crowd Mick asks. Turning left, My baby’s always the one the driver does not To try the things they’ve never done answer. The radio is quite And just because of that they say loud. ‘Maybe he didn’t He’s a rebel hear you.’ And he’ll never ever be Mick closes his Any good eyes. Certain we are lost, He’s a rebel but so tired, with no sleep ’Cause he never ever does for the past forty hours, What he should less able each moment to 3 246Y_tx.indd 3 3/3/14 10:45 AM protest, to change direction, we proceed in a black Cadillac limousine into the vastness of space.
