SPOTLIGHT VERDICT POINT BARROW (nap) makes most appeal, with the extreme trip likely to suit, last season’s Irish National win proving his effectiveness in this type of race (and on good ground) and with his rider on a real high after last month’s two wins. Point Barrow is a sound jumper-yet to fall or unseat in 16 chases-looked as good as ever when winning a good Leopardstown handicap in January and looked ready to peak again in time for this when running very well over hurdles last time. Classy L’Ami has plenty going for him off a decent mark, with the extreme trip likely to be within range (stayed on very well over 3m4f once last season) and, with Tony McCoy up, may be next best, ahead of Aintree perennial Hedgehunter, for whom the drying ground is a plus and who will be a big threat to all if at his very best after his somewhat troubled preparation. Jack High is interesting off a decent mark on the pick of this season's form and may be best of the rest. [MCu]
