2018 FAFSA Finish Event Information

Our volunteers and financial aid experts are looking forward to answering your questions and helping you complete the FAFSA!

1. Register for a FAFSA Finish Event at www.FrederickCountyGives.org/FAFSAFinish. Each event begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. The dates and locations are:

• January 30, 2018 – Frederick High School • February 6, 2018 – Governor Thomas Johnson High School • February 7, 2018 – Catoctin High School • February 8, 2018 – Brunswick High School • February 12, 2018 –

2. Obtain your FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID). You can do this at https://fsaid.ed.gov/

3. Next, collect all the necessary documentation for completing the FAFSA. You will need the following at your appointment:

• Your FSA ID • Social Security Number for parents and student (or permanent resident number) • Date of birth of parents and student • Driver’s license (if any) • Alien Registration or Permanent Resident Card (if not a US citizen) • W-2 tax forms and other records of money earned • Federal income tax return for 2016 (if not completed yet, bring 2015 return) • Foreign tax return (if any) • Untaxed income records (such as child support received and untaxed pensions) • Bank statements for checking, savings and other asset accounts owned by the student and parents • Other investment records, including 529 plans or other prepaid college plans (if applicable)

4. Come to your FAFSA Finish appointment. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please call the Community Foundation office at 301.695.7660 as soon as possible.

• Participants may be eligible to be entered to win one of 9 scholarships each valued at $1000-$2000. • An information session about scholarships available through the Community Foundation will be held at each FAFSA Finish event, from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. No registration for this information session is required.
