FREE DRAFT lEER UNTIL MIDNIGHT Houston Area National Organization for Women has officially designated Labor Day as Pay Equity Day, a day for women everywhere to focus the public's attention on sex discrimination in the marketplace, and to demand that Pay Equity legislation be enacted. PayEquity is the rating of jobs according to established criteria such as skill and knowledge, TUESDAY, SEPT. 3-LlP-SINC FINALS responsibility and accountability, working conditions, and interpersonal skills. Texas has not implemented Pay Equity. In fact, the state of Texas seriously lags behind other states in that it does not have a task force on Pay Equity; 34 other states have a task force. Texas does not have a Pay Equity policy; 10 states already have a policy. Texas has not done a job evaluation study; 22 other states have done a study. Texas has not brought suit; 13 states have already brought suit. So, for Houston women, September 2, 1985, will be celebrated as Pay Equity Day.
