Dear Parent / Carer Annwyl Rieni

Education Minister coming to Llanidloes!

We are delighted to announce that the Education Minister for Wales, Mrs Kirsty Williams CBE, will be visiting us on 21st June.

Mrs Williams accepted an invitation to join pupils, staff and governors to celebrate the formation of the Llanidloes Schools’ Federation.

During her afternoon visit, Mrs Williams will tour both school sites, popping into lessons to chat with pupils and staff. She will also have an opportunity to hear about the strides we are making towards implementing the new Curriculum for Wales.

Everyone is very excited!

Federation update

A working group comprising members of Llanidloes primary and secondary school Governing Bodies, along with both Headteachers, have been busily making preparations for the exciting new federation due to start in September.

Governors have agreed the composition of the Governing Body of the Llanidloes Schools Federation and the two Governing Bodies will have a joint meeting on 19th June at the primary school to discuss the next steps.

In the meantime, Mr Owen (Headteacher at Llanidloes High School) and I have been gleaning best practice from colleagues in the successful federation of Ysgol Gynradd , Ysgol Glantwymyn and Ysgol .

Contacting staff

If you need to contact a member of staff regarding your child’s attendance or any other educational matter, pleas e telephone the office on 01686 412603 or s end an email to [email protected]. Staff are not able to accept personal messages of this type through social media. Many thanks for your cooperation.

Healthy School status

We ask that pupils bring bottles of water into class to keep them well hydrated. If your child also brings in juice, they can leave it by their peg and drink it with their packed lunch. As you are aware, in order to keep our ‘Healthy School’ status, certain guidelines need to be followed.

Attendance

Thank you very much to all pupils who are making a real effort to arrive on time. This makes a big difference to your child’s learning. Register opens at 8.55 am and if your child is not present at this time, they are marked as ‘late’. Register closes at 9.20 am - if your child arrives after this time, their late mark counts as an ‘unauthorised absence’.

Pupils are registered TWICE each day. Afternoon register is taken at 1.05 pm so if your child has a medical appointment in the afternoon, they need to be registered before leaving. However, it would be even better if any medical appointments during school time could be kept to a minimum.

Yours sincerely Yn gywir
