Steve Jonsson has been active in the Gay Movement since he first learned of its existance in 1953. Always envious of the many gay organizations of the east and west coasts, he yearned for some kind of gay unity in Texas. There being none, he, a few friends and four sympathetic straight ministers founded the Circle of Friends in 1966.
