Biola SummerSlam OVER A DECADE OF DOMINANCE: The Yotes have recorded 17-straight winning seasons since # Big Sky Challenge 1997 and have won at least 18 matches in their past 11 seasons.

Cascade Conference Standings RECORD BOOK: One player currently is ranked in the C of I Top-10 career record book, as Sierra Porter (Eagle, Idaho / Rocky Mountain HS) is No. 5 all time with 2,087 assists. School CCC Overall Concordia 0-0 1-0 LAST SEASON / PLAYERS LOST: The 2013 season was full of peaks and valleys – but ended as Eastern Oregon 0-0 1-0 each of the past eight years had, with a CCC championship. C of I won their final 12 CCC matches in a row Southern Oregon 0-0 0-0 Warner Pacific 0-0 0-1 - more -

heading into the league tournament – sweeping Southern Oregon and defeating Concordia to win their fifth tournament crown. Unfortunately, C of I had their string of five-straight trips to the NAIA National Championships Final Site in Sioux City, Iowa, broken, as Rocky Mountain won a grueling five-set match in Caldwell in the Opening Round of the NAIA Championships to end the season. All-America middle blocker Liz Myers (994 kills and 464 blocks in her career); three-year starter and All-America right side hitter Kylee Nawahine (758 kills, 875 digs, and 210 blocks in her career); All-CCC libero Janel Porter (1,631 career digs, No. 2 in C of I history); and outside hitters Sofia Anxo and Lili Brochado all graduated after dynamic collegiate careers.

POSITION BY POSITION – SETTERS: A big strength for the 2014 team will be at the setter position, as both distributors return. Junior Sierra Porter had a banner 2013 season, earning All-CCC, All-AVCA West Region, and NAIA All-America honors. Porter ranked second in the CCC, averaging 10.56 assists per set, while adding 48 blocks and 243 digs. Sophomore Jayde Folsom (Gresham, Ore. / Gresham HS) made three starts a year ago, averaging 10.60 assists per set, helping C of I to a 2-1 record.

POSITION BY POSITION – BLOCKERS: Size will be the key for the Lady Yotes, as all five middle blockers are 5-11 or taller, including three players 6-1 or taller. Junior returner Kylie Porter (Boise, Idaho / Capital HS), who stands 6-3, was a regular in the rotation last season, ranking second on the team in blocks per set (0.90), recording five matches with five-or-more blocks. Four newcomers look to join her at the net, including junior transfer Jenessa Koelliker (Kaysville, / Salt Lake CC). The 6-2 blocker led her junior college team in averaging 0.75 blocks per set, while adding 223 kills and a .317 hitting percentage. Another transfer, six-foot redshirt freshman Kelsey Kramer (Parma, Idaho / Western U.), was a three-time 3A All-State selection in high school. Two other freshmen are in the mix, Tess Willis (Middleton, Idaho / Middleton HS) and Alaina Slater (Boise, Idaho / Rocky Mountain HS).

POSITION BY POSITION – HITTERS: The Yotes will look to senior Emily Ottinger (Palmdale, Calif. / Coll. of Southern Idaho) to anchor the outside after an outstanding second half of the 2013 season. Ottinger recorded eight double-digit kill matches as a junior, averaging 3.09 kills per set, including 21 kills in a road win at Southern Oregon. Transfer Bailee Kendall (Mount Pleasant, Utah / Salt Lake CC) will also be a force at the net, coming off an All-Region 18 and NJCAA All-America season. Kendall averaged 3.36 kills per set and 0.50 blocks a set and at 6-1, provides a big target above the net. Sophomore Abbey Fenton (Burns, Ore. / Burns HS) returns for her third season in the program, seeing action in 26 sets in 2013, while freshman Amanda Crist (Twin Falls, Idaho / Canyon Ridge) provides another option on the outside. On the right side, the Yotes will look to a pair of sophomores to handle the load – Katy Robinson (Kimberly, Idaho / Kimberly HS) and Randi Sturtz (Emmett, Idaho / Emmett HS). Robinson averaged over a kill per set in limited action in 2013, with Sturtz making the move from the middle to the right side in 2014.

POSITION BY POSITION - BACK ROW: With the loss of four-year starter Janel Porter, the Yotes will have a youth movement with their defensive specialists. Sophomore Cheyan Coburn (Moore, Idaho / Butte County HS) was part of the regular rotation in 2013, averaging 2.06 digs per set – including four matches with 10-or-more digs. Another sophomore, Elizabeth Trenkel (Vale, Ore. / Vale HS) was a key part of the serving rotation during the second half of 2013, recording a team-best 0.42 aces per set. Juniors Kathyn Nasburg (Boise, Idaho / Meridian HS) and Emilee Chapma n (Eugene, Ore. / Marist HS) will look for more playing time this season. Two freshmen will also be in the mix – freshmen Kilee Lopez (Caldwell, Idaho / Vallivue HS) and Maddie Tuft (Caldwell, Idaho / Caldwell HS).

# Neutral Site – Salt Lake City, Utah A LOOK BACK TO 2013: The Lady Yotes opened the 2013 on a positive note – traveling to Helena, * Cascade Conference Mont., and played well in back-to-back matches. C of I dropped a tight 2-1 decision to a very good Carroll program, followed by an overtime victory against a Biola side that spent a majority of the

season in the NAIA Top-25. A week later, the Lady Yotes traveled to Spokane, Wash., and went

toe-to-toe with Frontier Conference teams Rocky Mountain and Great Falls. The Yotes took a nationally-ranked RMC club to overtime before dropping a 2-1 decision, then shutting out Great Cascade Conference Standings Falls, 1-0. From there, C of I's offensive woes began, as Northwest Nazarene, Westminster, and Great Falls all blanked the Yotes – finishing non-conference play with a 2-5 record. The Coyotes School CCC Pts. Overall opened up conference play on a good note, rallying for a 3-2 victory over Warner Pacific – but Evergreen 0-0-0 0 1-0-0 could not find the winning remedy the rest of the way, including four one-goal losses and a 0-4 record at home. Forward Shea Yuma (24 GP/22 GS, 2 career goals, 1 assist, 5 points), Northwest 0-0-0 0 1-0-0 midfielders Sarah Hicks (64 GP/51 GS, 9 career goals, 3 assists, 21 points), Amanda Boyce (25 College of Idaho 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 GP/12 GS, 2 career goals, 1 assist, 5 points), defender Devhan Morgan (61 GP/52 GS, 3 career Concordia 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 goals, 2 assists, 8 points), and goalkeeper Melissa Holmes-Joseph (50 GP/42 GS, 195 career Corban 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 saves) all graduated after excellent collegiate careers.

POSITION BY POSITION – MIDFIELDERS: The C of I certainly does not lack depth at the midfielder position, with a roster containing 10 midfielders. Jackson had two goals and two assists for six points in the 2013 season. Junior Sydney Woods (Meridian, Idaho / Meridian HS) will be making the transition from defense to midfielder this fall. Woods has played in 29 games in two years with the Lady Yotes, getting the start in all but two of those matches. Three new midfielders arrived on campus this fall, all part of the 2014 recruiting class. Sabrina Mallett (Las Vegas, / Sierra Vista HS) was the 2013 Southwest League Defensive Player of the Year during her senior year at Sierra Vista. Julia Fretwell (Meridian, Idaho / Renaissance HS) and Erika Scheibe (Meridian, Idaho / Rocky Mountain HS) are each making their collegiate debuts this fall for the Lady Yotes.

POSITION BY POSITION – DEFENDERS: The Lady Yotes will look to their veteran returners for experience this upcoming season as they return four defenders who have a combined 87 games played for the C of I, including 63 combined starts. Senior Katy Radko (Meridian, Idaho / Meridian HS) and junior Aurora Ostolasa (Boise, Idaho / Borah HS) return with the most experience on the defensive side of the ball for the Lady Yotes this season. The two combined for 58 games played over the last three seasons, including 43 starts for The College of Idaho. Radko enters her senior season with seven points in her career - three assists and two goals. Taylor Fowers (Meridian, Idaho / Mountain View HS) is in her third season in the Coyote soccer program, but used the 2013 season as her redshirt year. Fowers played in 14 games during the 2012 season including six starts. Sophomore Mallory Cripps (Boise, Idaho / Borah HS) had two shots last season for The C of I as she started in 14 of the 15 games she played in. Junior Allie Swanson (Eagle, Idaho / Humboldt State) and freshmen Katelyn Benavidez (Saugus, California / Saugus HS), and Hailey Woods (Meridian, Idaho / Meridian HS) round out the trio of new defenders for the Lady Yotes this fall.

POSITION BY POSITION - GOALKEEPERS: Senior Aimee Pierson (Quartz Hill, California / Desert Christian HS) is the only goalkeeper the Lady Yotes have this season with any game experience at the collegiate level. Pierson played in 17 games her freshman season, starting in 14 of them. Pierson has a three-year total of 26 games played, including 16 starts with 86 saves. Two freshmen goalkeepers enter the Coyote soccer program this fall to join Pierson tending the net. Brittany Houghton (Saratoga Springs, Utah / Westlake HS) was a four-year starter at Westlake High School where she made the All-Region team for three seasons. Danielle Ellis (Longview, Washington / Kelso HS) rounds out the trio of goalkeepers.

The C of I struggled with their continuity during their preseason schedule – being outscored 12-5 in four losses – including setbacks against MidAmerica Nazarene and Rocky Mountain, squads that earned a spot in the NAIA 9/23 * CONCORDIA 4 P.M. National Championships. After gutting out a 3-2 win over Northwest Christian, the Yotes lost their next four matches to fall to 9/27 * Oregon Tech 1 p.m. PT 1-8 – including a gut-wrenching loss at Warner Pacific with four seconds remaining in the second overtime period, and a record-setting 8-2 defeat at Concordia. C of I also must replace All-CCC pick Yan Gioseffi, a defender who tallied five goals as a senior, along with midfielder Jamie Valle. 10/11 * Northwest Christian 3 p.m. PT 10/15 * WARNER PACIFIC 3 P.M. CONFERENCE / NATIONAL POLL: The Coyotes were picked to finish fifth out of eight teams in the 2014 CCC preseason coaches’ poll, released on Aug. 5. The preseason NAIA Top-25 coaches’ poll will be released on Aug. 19. 10/25 * NORTHWEST 3 P.M. 10/31 * Warner Pacific 7 p.m. PT POSITION BY POSITION – KEEPERS: Baker will have options to look at this preseason as five players are in competition to replace three-year starter Colin Benham-Marin. Two players saw game action in 2013 - senior John French (Boise, Idaho / 11/1 * Concordia 1 p.m. PT Centennial HS) and junior Chanse Ward (Boise, Idaho / Borah HS). French has started two games during his career, including a shutout in 2012 over Oregon Tech, while Ward made his collegiate debut last season. Redshirt freshman 11/4 * CORBAN 3 P.M. Stearne Briem (Boise, Idaho / Riverstone International HS) is in the competition, while two impressive incoming freshmen in 11/11 CCC Tournament (Semis) TBA Grant Billings (Boise, Idaho / Boise HS) and Lucas MacMillan (Snohomish, Wash. / Glacier Peak HS) may work themselves into the line-up – Billings, who won two 5A state titles in high school, and MacMillan, who was a two-time All-Western 11/15 CCC Tournament (Final) TBA Conference pick in Washington.

11/22 NAIA Tourney Opening Round TBA POSITION BY POSITION – DEFENDERS: The Yotes return three starters on their back line that limited opponents to just one 12/1-6 NAIA National Tournament TBA goal per game over the final 11 games during the 2013 season. Senior Cristian Sanchez (Ontario, Ore. / Treasure Valley CC) scored three goals last season while providing a physical presence in the back; junior Jorge Brambila (Salem, Ore. / South Salem HS) scored a goal and added an assist in starting 17 games; with junior Andres Idoeta (Boise, Idaho / Walla Walla Home Games in Bold and CAPS CC) providing speed and distribution to the defense. Baker is excited about sophomore Kyler Auernhamer (Longmont, Colo. / Longmont HS), who makes the move from the midfield to the back and should produce immediate results, as will a pair of * Cascade Conference newcomers in transfer Jake Helm (Boise, Idaho / Walla Walla CC) and freshman Miguel Nunez (Caldwell, Idaho / Caldwell HS). Senior Sam Bauer (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle HS) has looked solid in training and will see minutes, with redshirt freshman + Scrimmage David Bautista (Salem, Ore. / South Salem HS) and true freshmen Derek Hawkins (Boise, Idaho / Capital HS) and Odilon ! Westminster Fall Classic Numugabo (Kigali, Rwanda / United World College) looking to crack the line-up.

POSITION BY POSITION – MIDFIELDERS: The Yotes deepest position will be in the midfield, with Baker having multiple options to choose from depending on the situation. Seniors Sydney Donaldson (Coventry, England / Charis Prep) and Tyler Lawton (Boise, Idaho / Walla Walla CC) return after quality 2013 season – Donaldson, a two-sport athlete that is among the top 50-50 ball winners in the CCC, and Lawton, a savvy veteran who had a great second half of last season after a long Cascade Conference Standings layoff from the game. Also returning is senior Luis Gomez (Idaho Falls, Idaho / Bonneville HS), a three-year starter for the squad who did not play in 2013; with senior Nicko Moreno (Idaho Falls, Idaho / Idaho Falls HS) providing four-years of School CCC Pts. Overall experience, having scored five career goals; along with junior Brandon Smith (Damascus, Ore. / Alliance Charter Acad.), who scored a goal and an assist and started 13 games in 2013. Two newcomers look to make an early impact in junior transfer College of Idaho 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 Nate Hunt (Meridian, Idaho / Northwest CC) and freshman Riley Smith (Helena, Mont. / Capital HS) – both who have outstanding motors and work hard from sideline to sideline. Three other returning players – speedy senior John Fronk Concordia 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 (McCall, Idaho / McCall-Donnelly HS) and sophomores Zuva Donduro (Maputo, Mozambique / American International Corban 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 School) and Ryan Geist (Twin Falls, Idaho / Twin Falls HS) – will also be in the mix for minutes. Two freshmen midfielders, Alex Roberts (Boise, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS) and Valentin Flores (Kuna, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS), are expected to redshirt. Evergreen 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 POSITION BY POSITION - FORWARDS: C of I looks to improve their scoring punch in 2014 after averaging just a little over one Northwest 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 goal per game last season. Top scorer Joe Bolin (Payette, Idaho / Payette HS) is back, as the junior scored nine goals in Northwest Christian 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 2013, including a hat trick in a victory over Warner Pacific. The Yotes top playmaker, sophomore Joao Cardoso (Brasila, Brazil / Bishop Kelly HS), moves from the central midfield to one of the wings, hoping to use his speed and skill to serve Oregon Tech 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 balls into the box. Cardoso scored two goals and added seven assists during the 2013 season. Sophomore Scott Lyons (Pocatello, Idaho / Carroll Coll.) will make the transition from the back third to work up top, with true freshman Tyler Sharp Warner Pacific 0-0-0 0 0-0-0 (Snohomish, Wash. / Monroe HS), an All-Conference player in high school, also expected to log minutes in a striker role.

FROM THE COACH: “I am excited for the promise of this season,” Baker said. “It’s going to be a tough competition for the keeper position. Grant Billings has separated himself from fellow freshman Lucas MacMillan with his ability to play with his feet and overall technical ability, while returners John French and Chanse Ward will play early in the season. I see Cristian Sanchez, Jorge Brambila, and Andres Idoeta anchoring a tough back line, with Kyler Auernhamer returning to his roots playing defense after spending last year in the midfield. I concentrated on depth in the recruiting process this year and it will show in the midfield. Donaldson and Gomez supply tough defense and size in the center, while Tyler Lawson will use his leadership; Nate Hunt will make an immediate impact with his speed; and I look for Brandon Smith to be a team leader in assists with his ability to see the field. I am excited for the tandem of Joao Cardoso and Joe Bolin up top, and have the potential to be a lethal tandem.”

PRESEASON OPPONENTS: Unlike last season, when each of their non-conference games were on the road, the Coyotes will play half of their preseason games on the new artificial turf at Simplot Stadium. C of I will meet Rocky Mountain in their first home game of 2014, meeting a Bears (14-4-1) team that advanced to the national tournament a year ago – returning second-leading scorer Jack Clancy (7 goals, 1 assist), but losing NAIA Player of the Year, Oliver Gore (20 goals, 9 assists). The Yotes head to Salt Lake for a pair of games – opening with Dakota Wesleyan, before a date with host Westminster. DWU (9-8-2) was picked to finish seventh in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and returns top scorers Mike Haight (7 goals, 3 assists) and Chaz Foss (5 goals, 1 assist), while the Griffins (9-11) lost 25-of-29 goals from last season to graduation, but return keeper Logan Butzier (1.40 GAA, 6 shutouts). The Yotes close out the preseason with a home match against Division II foe Dominican. The Penguins (4-12-2) return second-leading scorer Kolby Mitnick (6 goals, 3 assists) and top goalie Patrick Rabbitt (1.68 GAA).

CASCADE CONFERENCE OPPONENTS: Corban is the odds-on favorite to repeat as CCC champions, coming off their best season in program history. The Warriors return all 11 starters from 2013, including top scorers Kemar Prince (8 goals, 4 assists) and Arsinio Walker (5 goals, 3 assists), plus the top keeper in the league in Jordan Farr (0.71 GAA). Concordia loss two-time CCC Player of the Year, Septi Danciu, to graduation, but returns striker Timur Zhividze (8 goals); Northwest loses six starters to graduation – including their four-year starter in goal, Joe Galbraith; with Evergreen returning seven starters, including top scorer Willie Spurr (5 goals, 2 assists). Warner Pacific must replace six starters, but returns top scorer Almir Celebic (4 goals, 6 assists); Oregon Tech returns 11 players from 2013 and had a solid recruiting class; with Northwest Christian looking to climb the table with eight starters returning. The 14 -match, double round-robin schedule, begins in mid-September.
