Three Freshmen Starting??? If Coach Johnny Jones elects to go with the same three freshman – Jarell Martin, Jordan Mickey and Tim Quarterman – in his starting lineup, it is believed that this will be the first time that LSU has started three freshmen in a contest since the NCAA national semifinal game in 2006 … In that game, the Tigers started young players Garrett Temple, Tasmin Mitchell and Tyrus Thomas … That trio did not start the first game of the season as just Temple and Mitchell were in the starting lineup, but senior Darnell Lazare was in for Thomas. The three freshmen did not start together until the 11th game of the year. In 2011-12, LSU started two freshmen in the opener – Anthony Hickey and Johnny O’Bryant III – along with another first-time starter, junior transfer Justin Hamilton. One has to go back further to 1988-89 to find another pair of freshman first-game starters – Chris Jackson (now Mahmoud Abdul-
