In front of the largest crowd ever to see the Irish play in South Bend - 5,022, capacity at the new home of Irish hockey - Lee scored once in each period for the second hat trick of his career.

Senior defenseman Sean Lorenz and junior center Riley Sheahan added the other goals for Notre Dame. Joel Malchuk and Johnny Rogic scored for RPI in the loss. Calabrese broke up an RPI passing play in the slot and Tynan grabbed RETURNING LEADERS the puck and raced through center, leaving the puck for the 6-3, 227-pound portsider who whipped the shot past Merriam to break the tie. In just his second collegiate game, Caig scored on a breakaway to open up a 2-2 tie and lead Minnesota- Duluth to a split of a weekend series with Rensselaer.

The Engineers had just tied the game when Justin Williams, playing in only his fourth game, sent a pass up THE BASICS to Caig, who had gotten loose at the blue line. Twenty-six of 27 student- since 1998 — and garnering points against six nationally- tured two NCAA National Championships, three WCHA playoff athletes earned Dean’s List (3.0 or better GPA), including four ranked opponents. RPI enjoyed numerous stints in the na- championships and two WCHA regular-season titles. who had perfect 4.0 term GPAs. Bailen was selected as a Na- tional polls, including eight straight weeks in 2007-08. A letterwinner at Ferris State from 1992-96, Appert and his tional Academic All-America for the second time in his career. Individually, RPI student-athletes have earned All-League wife, Jill, have two daughters, Addison and Campbell.
