LIVING IT up Release Date: July 19Th 2010 LEVEL 42 LIVING IT UP Release date: July 19th 2010 Label: Universal Music Format: 4 CD Box Set Catalogue number: 5328651 STUNNING NEW BOX SET AND WORLD TOUR CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY FOR 80S LEGENDS ALL THE SINGLES, RARITIES AND THE MUCH RUMOURED ACOUSTIC ALBUM… On the eve of Level 42’s 30th anniversary, Universal Music are proud to announce the release of ‘Living It Up’, a beautifully packaged 4-disc box set that includes all 34 of the band’s A-side single releases, including ‘World Machine (remix)’, which was a US only release, a collection of long lost studio recordings, previously unreleased demos and rare tracks that have only previously been available on vinyl. The box set’s fourth disc is the much rumoured Level 42 acoustic album. Recorded at the beginning of 2010 by Level 42’s lead singer & bassist Mark King and keyboards & vocalist Mike Lindup, the acoustic album features stunning acoustic versions of ten classic Level 42 tracks. It is the first time anything like this has been attempted in the band’s history - and the results are quite brilliant. The box set is completed by extensive sleeve notes by Mark King, music journalist & author Paolo Hewitt, who was an early champion of Level 42, and Earth, Wind & Fire bassist Verdine White, who recounts his fond memories of working with the band during his time as their producer. In addition to the release of the ‘Living It Up’ box set, Level 42 will embark on a 30th Anniversary World Tour, with dates across Japan, North America, Europe and the UK between June and November 2010, as well as playing festivals in Europe and UK. ADDRESS PHONE NUMBER WEBSITE 500 W. Kilbourn Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53203 414.908.6000 MillerHighLifeTheatre.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sarah Maio [email protected] 414-908-6056 King Crimson Announce “Music Is Our Friend” North American Tour Dates 2021 King Crimson comes to the Miller High Life Theatre on August 31, 2021 MILWAUKEE – (June 7, 2021) – The Miller High Life Theatre and Alternative Concert Group are proud to welcome King Crimson with special guest The Zappa Band to the Miller High Life Theatre, August 31, 2021. Artist VIP presale is June 9 at 11 a.m., and venue presale is June 10th at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, June 11 at noon at the Miller High Life Theatre box office or Ticketmaster. When King Crimson returns to action this July, it will be the seventh year that the band has toured since returning to performing live in 2014, a run only interrupted by the lockdown in 2020. In that time, the audience has been reinvented, as much as the band itself, something Robert Fripp noted after the band’s performance in Pompeii, Italy’s famous amphitheater: “In Pompeii, a large percentage of the audience was young couples; KC moved into the mainstream in Italy. I walked onstage knowing that this band's position in the world has changed level.” - Robert Fripp The band’s shows regularly include material from twelve of their thirteen studio albums, including many songs from their seminal 1969 album In the Court of the Crimson King, described by Pete Townshend as an “uncanny masterpiece.” The 7-piece line-up play many historic pieces, which Crimson has never previously played live, as well as new arrangements of Crimson classics – “the music is new whenever it was written.” There are also new instrumentals and songs, as well as compositions by the three drummers, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey, which are a regular highlight.

  • The Web That Has No Weaver
THE WEB THAT HAS NO WEAVER Understanding Chinese Medicine “The Web That Has No Weaver opens the great door of understanding to the profoundness of Chinese medicine.” —People’s Daily, Beijing, China “The Web That Has No Weaver with its manifold merits … is a successful introduction to Chinese medicine. We recommend it to our colleagues in China.” —Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Chinese Medicine, Beijing, China “Ted Kaptchuk’s book [has] something for practically everyone . Kaptchuk, himself an extraordinary combination of elements, is a thinker whose writing is more accessible than that of Joseph Needham or Manfred Porkert with no less scholarship. There is more here to think about, chew over, ponder or reflect upon than you are liable to find elsewhere. This may sound like a rave review: it is.” —Journal of Traditional Acupuncture “The Web That Has No Weaver is an encyclopedia of how to tell from the Eastern perspective ‘what is wrong.’” —Larry Dossey, author of Space, Time, and Medicine “Valuable as a compendium of traditional Chinese medical doctrine.” —Joseph Needham, author of Science and Civilization in China “The only approximation for authenticity is The Barefoot Doctor’s Manual, and this will take readers much further.” —The Kirkus Reviews “Kaptchuk has become a lyricist for the art of healing. And the more he tells us about traditional Chinese medicine, the more clearly we see the link between philosophy, art, and the physician’s craft.” —Houston Chronicle “Ted Kaptchuk’s book was inspirational in the development of my acupuncture practice and gave me a deep understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.

  • Level 42 Highlights from Retroglide
Level 42 highlights from retroglide Retroglide was released in September 2006 and was the first Level 42 album in twelve years. Although the album featured all the supporting musicians from the current Level 42 live band (Gary Husband, Lyndon Connah, Nathan King, Sean Freeman) as well as original keyboard player Mike Lindup, it was written solely by Mark King and Boon Gould. The album was released on the W14 label, part of the Universal group and featured artwork from Alan Brooks, who had created the artwork for many of the band’s early records. The cover art also saw the reappearance of the ‘princess’, who was featured on the cover of the first Level 42 record. Retroglide was eagerly anticipated by the group’s fanbase, who were hungry for new material from the band. The resulting album updated the classic Level 42 sound, although certain trademarks - such as King’s slap bass playing and the use of additional sequenced bass parts remained. Others, such as Lindup’s falsetto backing vocals were for the most part absent since at the point that he rejoined the band the album was almost complete. Although Retroglide was not a large scale commercial success, it quickly became popular with fans, and the new songs were well-received on the subsequent tour, which featured Mike Lindup now firmly back in the fold. The band toured in support of the album in Autumn of 2006 and released a Retroglide Live DVD the following year. ‘Dive Into The Sun’ Intro The opening track ‘Dive Into The Sun’ is classic Level 42 and is driven by a powerful riff-based groove from King.

  • Modern Romance
O-226-19 TRADE MARKS ACT 1994 IN THE MATTER OF UK REGISTRATION NO. 3241327 IN THE NAME OF GEOFFREY DEANE AND PAUL GENDLER FOR THE TRADE MARK Modern Romance IN CLASS 41 AND THE APPLICATION FOR A DECLARATION OF INVALIDITY THERETO UNDER NO. 502011 BY ANDROS KYRIAKOU BACKGROUND AND PLEADINGS 1. This case is a dispute between two members of a band over the use of the band’s name. The two members are Geoffrey Deane and Andros Kyriakou; the band is called MODERN ROMANCE. 2. On 4 July 2017, Geoffrey Deane1 (“the holder”) applied for the word mark Modern Romance, for the following services: Class 41: Live performances by a musical band; musical group entertainment services. 3. The application achieved registration on 29 September 2017. On 12 March 2018, Andros Kyriakou (“the cancellation applicant”) applied for a declaration that the mark is invalid. The single ground of invalidation is that the registration offends under Section 5(4)(a) of the Trade Marks Act 1994 (“the Act”) due to the goodwill Mr Kyriakou had acquired in the earlier non-registered mark MODERN ROMANCE since 13 May 1999 in respect of live performances by a musical band and musical group entertainment services. It is claimed that Mr Kyriakou has been performing in a band called MODERN ROMANCE throughout the UK since 1999 and has promoted the band via a website since 2000. Use of the contested mark would amount to a misrepresentation to the relevant public and result in damage to Mr Kyriakou’s reputation and goodwill. 4. Mr Deane filed a counterstatement in which he denies the claims made.
