Andorra will look to end a long barren run in competitive games as Group B rivals Cyprus come calling in what is their 100th UEFA European Championship game. Previous meetings • Cyprus beat Andorra 5-0 in Nicosia in November; it matched the margin of their previous biggest victory (also against Andorra, in 2000). During the game, Georgios Kolokoudias and Kostas Laifis made their Cyprus debuts, and George Efrem scored his nation's first ever international hat-trick. • Cyprus have won all four of their meetings with Andorra, and have not conceded in the last three. • Their only previous competitive encounters came in 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Andorra threatened an upset in their first encounter on 2 September 2000; they led 2-1 after 52 minutes, only for Cyprus to reply and ultimately prevail via a Michalis Konstantinou goal at the death. Cyprus won the return fixture 5-0 on 15 November 2000. • Current Andorra coach Koldo Alvarez – and indeed long-serving captain Óscar Sonejee – featured in both of those games. Form guide • Andorra are yet to avoid defeat in 45 UEFA European Championship games, and have lost 49 competitive matches in a row since drawing 0-0 with Finland in September 2005. They picked up five points in that 2006 World Cup qualifying tilt – five more than they have earned in any other qualifying campaign. • Cyprus have had an extreme swing in their last two competitive games; after beating Andorra 5-0 they lost by the same scoreline in Belgium. • Cyprus's 2-1 Group B success in Bosnia and Herzegovina was their first competitive away win since a 1-0 victory in San Marino in 2007; it remains their only triumph on the road in their last 19 competitive away games (W1 D4 L14). Trivia and links • Óscar Sonejee made his 100th appearance for Andorra in a 1-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in the run-up to the Cyprus game. • This is Cyprus's 100th UEFA European Championship game; the other 99 ended W14 D14 L71. • The nations' two meetings in UEFA age-limit competitions have produced a 5-0 win for Cyprus and a 0-0 draw.

Named his country's best player of the last 50 years by the Andorran Football Federation (FAF). • Took over as coach of the national team in February 2010 after the departure of David Rodrigo, though his side finished bottom of their qualifying groups for UEFA EURO 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Was rewarded with a switch to AEL, whom he led to a first Cypriot league title since 1968. Also took them to the 2012 Cypriot Cup final, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat by AC Omonia. • His side were ten minutes from the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League group stage, but RSC Anderlecht struck two late goals to send AEL into the UEFA Europa League. Left the club by mutual consent in October 2012. • Christodoulou's most recent post was a caretaker role at Anorthosis at the end of 2012/13, before his appointment as successor to Cyprus coach Nikos Nioplias in January 2014.

EURO finals: The UEFA European Championship was a four-team event in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 (when the preliminary round and quarter-finals were considered part of qualifying).

From 1980 it was expanded to an eight-team finals and remained in that format in 1984, 1988 and 1992 until 1996, when the 16-team format was adopted. UEFA EURO 2016 was the first tournament to be played as a 24-team finals.

Records of inactive countries A number of UEFA associations have been affected by dissolution or splits of member associations. For statistical purposes, the records of these inactive countries have been allocated elsewhere: therefore, all Soviet Union matches are awarded to Russia; all West Germany – but not East Germany – matches are awarded to Germany; all Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro matches are awarded to Serbia; all Czechoslovakia matches are allocated to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Abandoned/forfeited matches For statisical purposes, when a match has been started and then abandoned but later forfeited, the result on the pitch at the time of abandonment is counted. Matches that never started and were either cancelled or forfeited are not included in the overall statistics.
