“THESE THINGS I COMMAND YOU, TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER” (John 15:1) “A new commandment I write to you…because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now…Do not love the world, or the things in the world” (1 John 2:8, 9, 15)

Commentary: “He has set His body before you, He has given you his precious blood; and do you not even impart to Him your cup?…What excuse can we have when God promises heaven to us and we will not give Him bread?…As long as having the means, you do not help, you have not fulfilled the whole duty…When you give what is the Lord’s, why do you count every little bit?…When men get their wealth together through greediness, these same men are slow to give alms…For how can a man prepared for rapine adapt himself to its contrary?” St John Chrysostom
